Recently escaped Berlin then Vienna and moved to a Nordic country.... result: not a hint of racism, pleasant interactions with people, people are polite and mind their own business.... NORMAL BEHAVIOUR.
I honestly advise all those in German speaking countries: try to leave...the people there are racist, bitter, rotten and f***d up and if you stay too long you run the risk of accepting this disgusting behaviour as normal. ITS NOT NORMAL.
In Austria and Berlin I would get hassled daily racially by the folk, here I have zero stress and everyone is cool and polite and leaves you in peace.
There is more to life than constantly being annoyed by those envious, unworldly, racist, cretins and fools who live in Austria and Germany.

I wish people would stop using the racist tag so freely. My best friend in my country is a black guy, has been for many years, but I never think of him as black, white or beige because he fits in seamlessly with our culture, I believe most people labeled as racist are actually culturalist. I have no interest in black-culture, African-culture, Norwegian-culture, Timbuktu-culture, Montenegro-culture, etc etc etc. I'm sure they're interesting while visiting for a holiday, but it takes a lifetime to get to grips with our own culture, taking into account all the subtleties, turns-of-phrase and idiosyncrasies that we learn by osmosis from day one. I don't care what people's skin colour is, or what their race is, but don't expect me in my own country to have to enjoy your culture's subtleties, turns of phrase and idiosyncrasies, if your don't want to adapt to your host country's ways, better that you leave and enjoy what you already know.
No matter what country you go to, people will find you interesting for a moment when they first meet you and will be polite and tolerant for awhile, but if hordes of people from your culture invade their space, all peoples from all cultures will become hostile if the invaders don't integrate.
So stop with the racist tag, in fact, a black-African guy told me that Africa is full of racism between all the different countries that make up Africa.
So, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. The best way to enjoy Berlin is as a tourist, and then leave, never try to fit in here because their culture is crap and you'll never be happy, especially if you do try to fit in because their culture is based on rudeness, hostility and pathetic humour, so leave them to it and just move on to a culture you love, or just go back home.

And also one final point: the whole integration thing is bullshit. You can clearly see that second and third generation Turkish are segregated from German society even though they grew up in Berlin and speak fluent german. So they really need to stop with these games as if you could be integrated as a foreigner. They don’t actually care in general to do the work as a culture, if only to make up or appear a certain way to the rest of the world. For example, merkel letting in one million refugees doesn’t change the systemic racism . It’s more of a show for the rest of the world . See, we are good people, we let in one million refugees. Ok. So now how are you going to help them adjust to life in a new country? How are you going to employ them? How are you going to change things in the society such as in discrimination laws (the first one only passed like 2 years ago lol!). You know?

They view themselves as higher than others (even though reality showed all of us that they're not...) and by us coming out and sharing our experiences makes them realize they are not as superior as they claim to be, for that reason they get very defensive and try to gaslight us but all of us expats (specially mixed) know exactly how rude and unfriendly Germans can be!
