Some good news (at least for the time being)!

The social media hate speech law that almost went into effect was declared unconstitutional. Under the law, social media companies would have been forced to report any and all cases of online hate speech to the police rather than just deleting it like they do now (which is bad enough).

In typical Ingsoc... I mean German fashion they argued that to protect speech you need to further restrict it.

So these are toilets for escorts to use ? Or toilets for clients to eat poop ? I’m so confused

9 of 9 people agree with this
  Anonymous wrote:

German government built them and pays 3k per month to maintain them. They pretend they are toilets but they are meant to be used for sex. And they don't even have plumbing so the people having sex in them are suffocating in the smell of human excrement. Everything about this plan is so extremely Berlin that the only thing missing would be that it took the city 15 years to build them.

God, did you teach in regular schools or did you teach a language or something? Can't imagine teaching here. I hear there's literally no way to discipline Germans in school. Detention is illegal. Suspension is basically impossible unless the kid raped someone else at school. An ex of mine told me stories from school about how some kid would wait at the entrance every day and spit on people and nothing ever happened. I was also told of a guy who repeatedly broke into the girl's locker room and nothing happened. How is this country even real?

Berlin is great if you like to take the stance of victim mentality your entire life. In Berlin it’s almost cool to be deflecting blame on external factors. To be self motivated is to be looked down upon. Maybe it wasn’t like this ten years ago but this place is full of irresponsible people who can always blame the city for their misery instead of just leaving. I know many haven’t the money to leave but a lot just blow it on partying so I don’t feel sorry for them

Wow Scientific American backed a US president for the first time ever (Joe Biden) and every newpaper is reporting on it. What they aren't reporting is that SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN IS OWNED BY A GERMAN COMPANY (Springer Nature). Think it has ANYTHING to do with the fact that exports from Germany into the U.S. are down about 1/3 on average vs when the last president was in office?

I am not even smart and yet it's the first thing I noticed. How tf does no journalist at Spiegel Online think to do even minimal research?

The following link deals with the psychological consequences of the shutdown:

The observations also apply to life in Berlin. In particular, page 51/52 are relevant. It says:

'To get to
East Berlin, we took an underground from West Berlin and got off at the last and only stop into a
frightening labyrinth with grim faced guards beneath East Berlin. Inside the city itself, it was
bleak and barren of interesting or exciting activities. The people looked fearful and depressed.
We were approached by a small group of teenagers who begged us to find a way to sneak them
into West Berlin—an act of despair that took considerable bravery and perhaps recklessness born
of despair from living within a totalitarian system. Unlike the animals described by Pavlov as
dying from loss of freedom, these youngsters were striving for freedom and it leaves me
wondering how they did when the Berlin Wall came down a year later.
I was struck at the time by something that I continue to mull upon to this very day:
Stepping into East Berlin was almost exactly like my experience as a Harvard college student
when, as a volunteer, I first stepped into a state mental hospital.
63 The bleakness, the lack of
normal human activity, the sadness and despair in the faces, and even the pitiable requests to
please help them go free. This is the fate of people who have gradually and inexorably been
crushed by totalitarianism. They become like inmates of a giant 1950s state mental hospital. '
