Hear me out: expats who move to berlin to escape their childhood trauma don’t realize that german society mirrors that of their controlling and abusive parents. And so, instead of forming a new, adult life, they try so hard to gain validation and approval from a society that fundamentally is narcissistic and antisocial. So instead of realizing they are approval seeking, they recreate the toxic family dynamic they grew up in at expense to themselves. And at expense to growing into an adult, they stay stuck in a child role - because it is what is most familiar to them.

My parents had abusive tendencies but luckily I caught on quite fast to what was happening in that city. I’m sure most of those drug users have way deeper trauma than me. Unfortunately by making a life in Berlin one can never get better, and become a fully formed adult.

My point being is that any person that is trying to have autonomy over their lives would not put themselves in a subordinate role to germans. So you would think, why would people willingly do this? Why would they willingly make excuses for germans, be gaslit, and put themselves down? Would a healthy person do that? And above is my explanation for it. If anything, I am grateful for my time in Berlin if only to show me what steps I needed to take to get my poop together for the rest of my life. I have a long way to go and I’ve left, but I know that my issues that led me to Berlin go way deeper. Not everyone who moves to Berlin is as self aware as I am however. Many don’t want to be fixed, and won’t be fixed.

People with NPD neet a narcissistic source. Ive noticed these behqviours. It all stems from child rearing. Very surprised with all the downvotes.

Germans are just extremely bad at confrontation and prefer to avoid it at all costs. About 90% of the people here would test positive for Avoidant Personality Syndrome. They don't understand that you can calmly, casually tell someone that something bothers you. With Germans it's things are only black or white with no distinctions in between. That's probably why Germans continually ping pong back and forth between extremist ideologies, with the only common denominator being the worship of excessive government control of everything.

Do you have to live in Germany for some reason? Maybe you have kids with a German, or what do I know? If you are thinking of moving out of Berlin and don't want to stress the kids too much, then look at options near the border with other countries. I live near the French border now and work in France. I have to admit, it's pretty cool. I don't have to be in contact with Germans almost all day. This might be good for someone with kids and so on.

Many people feel easily insecure. You adultly (on eye level) say that 1.50 is likely not it for buying something to eat and a light. They act like the light is too expensive for you. Yet prior they asked you if that was all, to which you said that you're buying a light aswell (the lies that slipped through their fingertipps). It's always about blame. They are avoiding taking blame so often. Or it can happen someone gives you poop if you want to buy a beer, expecting a waiter to be at the back of the store. So you throw in a hello? that is though not meant badly and out of the kitchen comes a guy who is all by himself in the store, preparing food and taking it personal towards himself. It's not easy to be abke to clear up that you didn't mean him because you just didn't give it that much importance or expected that it could be ever taken out of context.

Many people are worried. As an adult (visible to the naked eye), it can be said that eating and buying junk food should not be 1.50. They work because knowledge is so important to you. Before they do, they ask you if it's true, and you say you're an electrician (he comes out with a fake finger). I'm still guilty. They avoid frequent mistakes. Or if you want to drink beer, I hope someone gives you a cake and there is a serving behind the store. you too ? So, if not bad, people go into the kitchen, prepare meals, and offer their own products. It's not easy to understand that you've ignored a problem because you don't think you can ignore it and solve it.
