When a German gives you attitude just always immediately ask if it's because you have a foreign name and/or accent. Force them to answer the question. Last year I had some digestive difficulties which lead to excessive burping. Same for me sort of. Nothing is quite as depressing as not having a trip planned while living and working in Berlin, especially when it's October-March (full half year of darkness). In the long run it'll be cheaper for me to move to somewhere less depressing even if I earn 30% less than here as 1. Less mental health travelling and 2. Lower taxes and 3. Cheaper utility bills because lower electricity and less need to heat. Only UK has higher electricity prices, truly insane.

Something I have been wondering for a while and can't really openly ask Germans about it. I am from Vietnam where it is comparatively a conservative country. Public nudity is not part of our culture at all so I was shocked to see how common it is here as basically every public body of water will have many nudists all around it even beyond marked FKK entryways. I read somewhere a survey about only 23% of Germans would visit nude beach but here every beach is nude beach.
Germans always tell me nudity is not sexual here and the human body should be celebrated. I do not feel like real instinctual German men attitude is really different than in Vietnam because at public lake I see naked man walking around with erection or masturbating looking at women. For sure German women also see this. Do they like to be lusted about? They pretend it is not happening?
I feel that Germans have strict rules everywhere but if they cannot enforce something they give up and pretend it is not a problem. I find this sad because I like to sunbathe and almost every time I am at a lake a German man come too close and act inappropriate.
Also in German film there is too much nudity. Every film basically has nudity and not as form of body celebration like German claim. For example I watch Goodbye Lenin recently with Vietnamese friends. It is rated from 6 years in Germany. But there is a scene with naked man jumping around purely for comedy reasons almost like slapstick humor. It is uncomfortable to watch and to think this is OK in Germany for 6 year old is strange. I would not want my daughter to watch this. Also why is a male genitalia funny?
There is also here so much public sex parties and kinky stuff all the time. My first week I was in a normal club called matrix with friends and saw a blond woman doing a sexual act on the dancefloor. I don't go to German clubs anymore because of this. My friends told me it is not uncommon here.
In summary I feel German are lying about nudity here as often it definitely is sexual. I think Germany cannot accept it cannot control citizens so to keep orderly image they pretend this is freedom but most people do not like it. Also I did not explain this but Germans seem to always say long-term German government is perfect and German government does seem to create German culture which I find strange. In Vietnam we trust less in government than Germans.
If Germans would just be honest about anything for once I'd understand. Just say "we're all degenerates who need to vent our collective frustration with an overly rigid society by engaging in communal sex practices". Do not pretend it is innocent or normal. I have been working at the same company for like 8 years. I work in IT and I have master degree. Anyways, I accepted this job because I am coming from non developed non EU country. So, they vastly lowballed me initially. I wanted to start working and get EU citizenship. Finally, I managed to get my EU citizenship.(=German)
The point now is that, If I get fired, I would get great Abfindung + 3 months notice in advance. The Abfindung amount I would get, will be much bigger than what I could save per year while working. Plus, I am entitled to collect ALG1 for an entire year which would provide me more or less same life standards like I am working.
What's the point of keep working? I ask this question myself everyday. I secretly wish to be fired and collect Abfindung. This would boost my action to move out Germany as well.
1. You gonna ask them to fire you via Aufhebungsvertrag? Be careful, might be viewed as voluntary resignation. Lawyers can do it right, but get legal representation.
2. If you're asking to be fired, why would they pay an Abfindung? They only pay that when infringing on your rights, which they aren't doing in that case.
3. What will you do after 12 months ALG1? It won't magically make Berlin not suck (though if you can start a new job in spring or summer it might be bearable for a couple of months).
4. Are you Indian or some other kind of darky? Good luck finding a Job Center caseworker who will treat you with the chill they give to Germans. Expect routine mandatory meetings.

Germans aren't blunt. If they were, then they'd also be blunt with praise and not only with criticism. Germans are, for the most part, simply low self-discipline assholes. Still, there are so many things here that are considered dogmatically off limits to criticise that the entire notion of Germans being straightforward is ludicrous. Sure germans will tell you they don't like your shirt, but somehow they can't muster up the nerve to tell the dudes in every German office who shower only once a week and wear the same clothes multiple days in a row that they stink. They also can't manage to tell their drinking buddy and pissing in the neighbourhood playground after a night out is gutter tier behaviour.
One positive that's resulted from.my time here is that I no longer believe the "self myths" that people spew about their own country/culture.
Efficient. No. I queued for 10 minutes at the supermarket yesterday. No one avaliable to open another till. Also, in my home country the supermarket shelves are restocked for at quiet times or at night. And the staff don't act like petulant children if you need to access the shelves.
