Germans worship government above all else. They all just blindly accept any asinine idea as long as the government officially supports it. And even though it's come back to haunt them time and time again, Germans never learn their lesson.
That is one of fears of staying here "post Pandemic". Whilst getting a hold of Covid is obviously going to require some limitations on freedom, the blind acceptance of everything they are told or dicated to do from Das Volk scares the poop out of me. I can't see the Regierung ever fully relenting these newly acquired powers and that sets a worrying precendent.

Envy as well. They are jealous with their partners and envious with other people's success. Very sad culture. This is why I love capitalism, the Berliner socialist/communist mindset is totally screwed up. Yet they want to leech off the benefits of capitalism after their failed communist/socialist experiment, with them as the guinea pigs.
Being jealous is a capitalism thing, mate. Sorry to burst your bubble. You are jealous in an unequal society where some people have more than others, or in a dictatorship where „some people are more equal than others“. Communist thought is far from any form of jealousy and envy. These are German traits.
I have seen huge jealous behaviour from both West and East Germans. East German jealousy is more passive-aggressive I think and you get a sense that they might have given up on life altogether. West German jealousy in my experience is more open and hostile and resentful. And sometimes you have no clue what they are jealous of.
To the phallace face two posts earlier, if communist/socialists are not jealous of capitalism, why do so many of them break their necks to come to capitalist countries, I don't see too many people wanting to immigrate to communist/socialist countries. Why don't you go and live in China or Nth Korea, hypocrite.

Learning the language was probably the biggest mistake I made since living here. Whilst it enables you to deal with some of the more complex facets of living here, it also makes you realise how pointless and inefficient so many of these things really are and makes you question why Germany has such great publicity in just about every other country. It also gives you the unfortunate pleasure of being able to understand the locals and again, the illusions that Germany is an intelligent society falls quickly. The only stereotype learning the language confirms is that the vast majority of them are downright rude, not only to foreigners but to one another as well.
Definitely not missing the sight of a man past the age of 35 wearing earrings.
Nose rings are the worst, I sat across someone with a big nose ring once, never again, it made me want to puke. Berlin is full of lost sheep, all bleating the same lefty bulllshit. I’m approaching my mid thirties. Everyone back home where I am from, my old friends, seem sad in one way. But when I look at my friends in Berlin my age, they are sad in another way. Reaching mid thirties you can look back on your life and see what works and what doesn’t. But in Berlin? People are in denial. I am not in Berlin anymore but to see it from a distance is even weirder. They are still acting as if in 20s, trying to chase their “cool kid” alternative fantasies. Don’t get me wrong, going out to a club is fun. But when your entire life at 35 is just about superficial things like trashion and pretending you are influencer with 500 followers there is something wrong. These people have no goals no life. The only reason I stay in contact is curiosity of what happens to Berlin party kids at 40.
Germans are still going on about how they’re not “like America” even though they’ve well past the one million mark of coronavirus cases which was the same mark months ago when everyone said things were blowing up in the USA. These people have no ability to reflect and think in a linear fashion. They just think about the now.
Why are the African drug dealers so aggressive to women? I’ve been followed home multiple times by men who would not leave when I said to leave, standing right up next to me. This isn’t racist , just wondering how to handle it. Worry I’ll be raped. Is it just because African men don’t see women out in the street alone at night in their culture ? Only happens at night. They don’t seem to get it, I don’t want to talk to them
I left just after Merkel opened the doors. I lived near Gorlitzer park and I thought I was in down town Mogadishu. I got heckled daily and one day I just thought F this, I'm not spending 50% of my income on tax for this treatment.
The one positive effect Berlin had on me is to not suffer fools gladly. Why should Germany be responsible for looking after the 3rd world? answer, they shouldn't. "But but but reperations!!!" kiss my ass, we all enslaved one another in the past.
I now actively vote against any party which supports immigration from the 3rd world, especially from Muslim countries. I don't care if 20% of them are nice, they've been tarnished by my personal experiences.
Before all the virtual signallers come along and say I'm racist, I couldn't care less. I love a tranquil life and don't want to be disturbed by a culture that hates me. If you want to live amongst animals that hate gay people and women be my guest. My $ will go elsewhere.
I studied with a really nice young woman who was constantly approached by black dudes that would follow her around. She was too nice to ignore them and so it kept happening. To the best of my knowledge nothing bad ever happened, though. We all tried to convince her to avoid them though.
Same constantly happened to a German friend of mine. On telling her she should not accept being catcalled and harassed in Görli Park she really really said "but these guys have a hard life and are treated unfairly by so many people". I swear she said it. Totally delusional. I told her that no man should ever harass a woman no matter his background but she just didn't get it and even reacted in an aggressive way to ME!!! They are totally lost.

i used to get followed and chatted up when i first came to berlin. That was because i smiled at strangers and didnt realise it was so unusual. Thinking back it is disgusting.as i was basically a child

- the only persons allowed to wear heels are LGBTQ*
- successful women in politics look like Angela Merkel or Annerget Kramp Karrenbauer
- successful people are despised
- men in their 50s ride KAPUTT bikes at 100 mph on crowded roads and feel cool and edgy
- People feel a salary of 2500 net is good and a 100 year old flat without a kitchen let alone any other items means comfort

I am actually a woman who would love to wear heels but cannot stand the stares and catcalls any more ... also in many circles heels are totally unwelcome and even women will tell you Bs* like "oh you are the only woman I know wearing heels" (add German stare). Whereas my lgbtq friends are praised for it.
I agree that in a polite society we don't insult world leaders based on their looks, weight, etc. But we haven't been in a polite society for several years now. Any doubt I had of that fact was erased 3 or 4 days after the US election when my clock radio woke me up with Germany's state mandated 3-minute news broadcast of which they devoted 1 minute to playing Anderson Cooper's (the guy who's so deep he glows in the dark) unedited "obese turtle on his back" monolog.
