I don’t get it. Whenever there were expats in my city and I met them, I always had genuine interest in their culture, their country, what’s special about them etc, no matter whether their country was poorer or richer than mine. I always wanted to listen to their language and ask them a few things about their country.
Germans aren’t interested in any of these. They look at you as if you were from another planet because you have an accent in German. They won’t ever ask anything about your country - other than offering their complaints if they’ve been there - and their indifference if they haven’t.
They laugh at Americans but they also have zero idea about the world around them. „Oh, everyone wants to be German“.

Yes, it’s true. I had to learn the hard way. Most times when Germans are extra nice means they want something. Facts! Then when they don’t get what they want they turn on in a second. You are left wondering like WTF just happened? The people here are calculating and vile scum of the earth. Nazis, all of them!

It's okay to have made choices which turned out to be bad. Had you known they were bad choices, you wouldn't have made them. At the time of choosing, you may have thought that it was a fine and could have been good, but then it didn't and it turned out to be a learning that was needed in life to shape your future. You gained wisdom out of it so don't feel bad about it and it is time that you release all the pain and hurt from you and just keep the lesson you learned so that it helps you make better choices in life ahead

Being wealthy in this city means shit. There is nothing nice to spend your money on. Culture? Nice restaurants? Neither..

I agree. Unless you're ultra wealthy, having a little more money than people here doesn't mean anything. You can't escape annoying German trash neighbors thanks to Wohngeld and local politics that promote social mising, and driving a car in this city is a nightmare since somehow 50% of the streets are always under construction at all times and it's nearly impossible to find a parking spot.

If you had a nice car it would be set on fire in many areas of the city anyway

I don’t get it. Where I come from you don’t do poop like that unless you’re looking for trouble . You just don’t slam into people on the road, because they aren’t German. Funny story: i was shopping in the mall at frankfurter allee and wanted to get some food. Went up to a german food place that looked good. Said to the lady "Schnitzel mit pommes". She was like "gleich" as was a little busy so i went slightly away and waited. After waiting and then realizing another person get served i went back up to the counter to get her attention but she was busy pretending to be busy. I just clocked on that she was pretending to have forgotten to piss me off. Its so weird how these ossis enjoy the slightest little power trip they can get. And they despise foreigners.

Germans cannot mind their own business. You cannot just be foreign and go about your day without having some remark or interrogation simply because you are not german. It seems these people have learned nothing from their past and not only that, have gaslighted the entire world into thinking they have changed .

And I forgot to add, if it’s not a remark or interrogation you will get pushed on the street, glared at, encountering smirks/smug attitude, talked down to (even when you are trying to purchase something). fornicate this Berlin schnauze, the world is just a cover for what this really is: xenophobia and racism. But if you try to say that? They say it’s not racist. You cannot win, best to leave and let these oagres inbreed, this is what they want.

They are really hostile and it is because you are foreign and don’t mistake it for some “cool” Berlin vibe because after awhile you will see it for what it is, someone that doesn’t have the same rights as them, and by the way the police and government officials as well as fellow Germans protect them so fat chance for you dealing with discrimination.

something germans need to get out of their heads is that people go to germany because it is "better" or they "want to become german" or something. Excuse me i dont need your validation Hans, I only went to berlin because it offered me opportunities which I could not find elsewhere, because it is so hyped. WEll soon it will die and lose its disneyland status, and all the foreigners will leave and find another "Berlin". Its already on its way out. then you guys can rot in your swamp as a bunch of has beens

This is very accurate and that's why this country has no understanding o expat culture. They assume that, everyone wants to settle down in Germany. I also never understand integration part. As long as I don't do any illegal It's no one's business to tackle into my life with terms like integration, adaptation etc

Germans don't understand the fact that everything that isn't illegal is by definition a personal liberty.

"I'm from Germany, it's basically viewed like the common cold in my experience. Some harmless tv ads for meds as there are for headache or cough meds. It's not recommended to get tested for it unless you seriously suspect you got infected or you are about to give birth. All partners I told "oh btw, I used to have herpes as a kid" looked at me like I was stupid and wondered why I would talk about my herpes since pretty much everyone once had an outbreak or two."

Anyone who has recently arrived in Berlin on reading this site would think we are all losers who couldn't make it here, I don't blame them, I was the same at first as well, it's only after being here for more than the honeymoon year or two, that the reality sets in.

I've landed on my feet socially, financially and creatively in every city I've lived in, but Berlin is very 'special'.

Anyway people just like to drift in Berlin, scraping by, and don’t even realize where the time went until it’s too late. So if you’re the kind of person who is just thinking “wait a second” and the honeymoon wears off and you start pointing these things out, people don’t want to hear that. You’re also dealing with most of your friends trying soooo hard to be accepted by germans like learning the language etc I mean I also did that, until I realized even that wouldn’t get me the quality of life before Berlin. So now I just prefer to visit Berlin and not live under the system.
