Why are foreigners in Berlin so afraid of love? It is so rare that you meet someone you have a spark with. Ships passing in the night
How were you spending your days in Berlin / Germany pre pandemic ? I wonder.
What made you realize that, the problem is not you but the country and It's people ?
What are your future plans ?
Let's talk !
basically I left berlin because i went there for a reason and am MEGA pissed off that I couldnt properly fulfill that reason due to having to deal with fuckingg german system. landlords, learn the darn language, work and taxation.... as Im a freelancer i am going back to berlin...ON A SUBLET. and forget the anmeldung. But I am going only during the sunny months of the year. thats my plan. I refuse to play into their system or work under them , its a waste of my darn time.
PS its actually cheaper for me to take international flights to and from north america to berlin than it is for me to live in berlin, simply because berlin isn't cheap, its where you can make no money., but if you make money in another country, its alright
The system wasn’t very hard for me to deal with, even though there were problems out of nowhere all the time. What really baffled me were the Crazy power hungry landlords, the noisy spying neighbors, the weird bosses and colleagues at work, and most of all, dating German women. This eliminated any hope I had of a better future here.
Why close the supermarkets in the night? Is covid dead over the daytime ? Why not just close the freaking restaurants and bars why the supermarkets ? Do they want the stores fuller in the daytime or what. broken up logic
“I don’t need to do my grocery shopping on Sunday, so no need for them to open” is one reply I got when asking someone why everything is closed Sundays.
Another one was “There was a time when supermarkets closed at 6pm on Saturdays. I don’t mind if we go back to that. There is no need for them to be open longer.”
Germans are incapable of self reflection
Their language sounds like constant mumbling
Is there a higher rate of colourblindness in germans, because they can’t colour coordinate for shittt
Have you guys heard of that guy nomad capitalist? He has the slogan “go where you’re treated best”, he renounced his USA citizenship and now lives in several bases around the world in places like Georgia and Colombia and the Caribbean. Anyway my point being, he never once mentions Germany as a place to be treated best
Anyone else feel like Germany is only viewed positively because one day the Germans just decided to pretend that Germany is a Utopia and refuse to admit that there are any problems? Feels like A LOT of information here is suppressed or simply not reported.
It’s just proof that you can brand anything or get people to buy anything. Given there are many aesthetic things I like about Berlin, these things only came about by Fluke. This doesn’t encompass the majority of the people living in the city, well maybe now it does. Just goes to show you can save even the worst reputation with a few catch phrases and by throwing glitter on it.
Of course a lot isn’t reported, this has been discussed many times on this forum. Things like suicide and drug overdoses are rampant And where do you see that? The statistics aren’t accurate for a reason, because if people really knew the truth they wouldn’t go. Much like how their universitites are actual shit. This is why this site exists, because try to find accurate info about Germany online you simply can’t. Or have a hard time doing sl
For example i only saw praises of Berlin but when I lived there it was a different story and I felt I was going insane and then I found Berlin hater and it made sense. At least you are here and not blindly repeating how great germany is and how much you love Berlin over and over.... it’s important to always question things, wherever you are
Here's the facts. No one wants their city invaded by foreigners, it;'s hard enough dealing with one's own culture in one's own country, let alone trying to navigate other cultures that have evolved over thousands of years with very fine subtle differences.
For example, In most English speaking countries, you can speak harshly to someone by saying something like "you old bastard", but you say it in a way that the other person knows it's not meant to be taken literally, the problem with Berliners is they say harsh things with no sign that i's meant to be taken light-hearted, but amongst themselves they have some kind of secret understandings.
Multi-culturalism is a scam created by globalist companies to move cheap labour around the world, if you don't accept it, they've trained the lefties through university indoctrination to shame them as racists, but people aren't usually racist, they are culturalists, and I am one of them, I find it very stressful trying to understand different cultures, and to be honest, after a short time of being curious about their cultures, without shared cultural points of reference it's very hard to have fun with them, jokes go down like lead balloons, there is no way of having light-hearted repartee, no innuendo (in your endo) and no understanding of irony.
I have many friends who come from different backgrounds and they have different skin colours to mine, but what they do have that appeals to me is culturally they have integrated into the host country social norms, and that makes it easy to get along with them.
I find most Germans are polite when you first meet them, but it's would be very stressful for them to have so many foreigners 'invading' their traditionalist culture.
When I realised this, I Ieft, back to my own culture, and now I'm the one who doesn't want to make the effort to try to communicate with asians and africans for instance, because I know they won't get what I'm talking about, conversations will be strained, political points of view will be muddled without a shared history, and don't even start on religious backgrounds, etc etc etc.
So give them a little slack and either bite the bullet as to the way things just are, adapt fully to their culture or get out and go where you will be understood and accepted. There's no place like home. In the meantime, phuck Berliners :o)
Good try from you. People in muti-kulti LA are as fake as they come, people in London are all on medication and alcoholics and most English people have moved out of London because of multi-kulti. Multi-kulti Sydney is one of the worst cities to live in, over-priced, one big traffic jam, no parking unless you pay a fortune, stress stress and more stress, and if you don't live on the coast the other 95% live in boring suburban wastelands full of migrant gangs.
Try again.
To the second poster above, Mr. Multi-Kulti, I've been to all three of those cities (London, LA, and Sydney). Sure, they may not be 100% perfect but In none of those three cities have I encountered the toxic vibe that is all too common in Berlin and the rest of Germany. I am detecting an angry and defensive Hans here.
I've also lived in those three cities and I know many people who have left or can hardly wait to get out. Most have gone to Brisbane because it's the least multi-kulti city in Australia. The Londoners have escaped to Sussex and Surrey to escape multi-kulti, I don't know anyone in London who likes multi-kulti, and I'm sure people in Africa, India and the Middle East don't like Multi-Kulti in their countries, in fact most of these nationalities are much more racist than western people.
Why should aI have to like other cultures, and be called a racist if I don't like them, so stop using lefty emotional blackmail. Oil and water don't mix and it's the same for cultures.
Stop playing the racist-card because you have nothing worthwhile to say, it makes you look like a lefty-loony.
Berliners all seem to be in a stunted stage of teenage angst/edginess. Adult people don't act like this. "Oh yeah on the weekend I went to Berghain and let some dude drink my piss..." And you had better not react in any negative way at all. What a joke these people are. And they are such crybabies that they made it illegal to call someone an old bastard. Grow up pussies.
Man this euro trash OP needs to shut the fornicate up. I live in one of the most multicultural cities on the planet and that’s what makes it interesting and we also do well financially and people have a good quality of life. We also aren’t racist or xenophobic.
Everyone I ever met in V=Berlin called it Multi Kulti, I call it globalist scam to keep wages down by moving cheap labour around the world. When in Rome, do as the Romans do, if you don't want to, go elsewhere. I can't stand Berliners/Berlin, it disgusts me, I'm just saying that people need to understand that cultures are very important to people and they expect others will respect their traditions, so I left, because their traditions are pathetic. .
The biggest issue is, no matter how hard you try, you can't succeed in this country as foreigner.
They don't even give you chance to be successful here. Do you hold B1 - B2 level of German language skills ? For Germans, It's not enough. By the way, that level of competency means you can almost handle everything in German except technical terms but you can learn It at work as well. However, their English is terrible in terms of vocabulary and pronanciation for the jobs require English skills. I know It because, I do work at global company where business is getting done in English.
They lowball the salary of foreigners with high amount of taxes. They leave you financially broken on purpose. It's impossible to get promoted here at your job and If you decide to switch careers good luck with that. Changes are not welcomed in Germany.
Dating is also terrible here. They don't tend to date with foreigners but beyond that, your partner's family don't respect you as foreign partner of their son or daughter.
They invite you parties and leave you alone there and they keep talking in German by knowing you are not good at German. They invite you for dinner they ask you how many chicken wings you would eat for example and mostly likely, they ask you to pay for what you eat / drink. This is considered extremely rude for the cultures I have interacted with in my life so far.
All of these things cumulatively make you waste your time / money in this country as foreigner with the hope that one day everything will get better. No, nothing gets better because the problem is not you, It is them.
This country makes me act like an evil vagina sometimes and I'm sorry for that.
I don’t get it. Whenever there were expats in my city and I met them, I always had genuine interest in their culture, their country, what’s special about them etc, no matter whether their country was poorer or richer than mine. I always wanted to listen to their language and ask them a few things about their country.
Germans aren’t interested in any of these. They look at you as if you were from another planet because you have an accent in German. They won’t ever ask anything about your country - other than offering their complaints if they’ve been there - and their indifference if they haven’t.
They laugh at Americans but they also have zero idea about the world around them. „Oh, everyone wants to be German“.
they call me american constantly and im from canada, then they assume there is no difference. yes because they are SO educated, especially when it comes to their stereotypes. its either that or they say "ze beautiful naturrrrrr" because they secretly pretend to be indianer in their spare time.
this place is whack
Perplex when someone is genuinely polite to me in this city, I can't really take it seriously, becaused so used being approached with aggression and rudeness.
Yes, it’s true. I had to learn the hard way. Most times when Germans are extra nice means they want something. Facts! Then when they don’t get what they want they turn on in a second. You are left wondering like WTF just happened? The people here are calculating and vile scum of the earth. Nazis, all of them!
It's okay to have made choices which turned out to be bad. Had you known they were bad choices, you wouldn't have made them. At the time of choosing, you may have thought that it was a fine and could have been good, but then it didn't and it turned out to be a learning that was needed in life to shape your future. You gained wisdom out of it so don't feel bad about it and it is time that you release all the pain and hurt from you and just keep the lesson you learned so that it helps you make better choices in life ahead
