Can anyone explain the disgusting nose ring, weirdo ear discs and lip piercing scene to me. It seems like 90% of young people in Berlin are just sheep following other sheep, all wearing the same uniforms of rebellion, against what, one of he most egalitarian and affluent societies in history. I haven't heard one fresh and original idea from any of them, they are like parrots.

And what's with all the drugs, cigarettes, indescriminate sex and alcohol, so 90's. Grow up.

I saw the following comment in one of the last threads:

'This site is just for idiots! Don't you like Berlin? Leave! Do you want to live in Prague? Live there! You don't like Slaves? Who are you pleased with? U Jerks! When you start to miss your country then follow mommy! :))))))'

I then thought that addressing such a stupid comment could be fun and deserved a thread of it's own. I address this stupid comment point by point...

1. 'This site is just for idiots!'

To this I ask 'have you read this site in it's entirety?' Because if this person had then they would know that the truth is somewhat different. Whilst a few of the commentators on this site might fall into the category of 'idiot', I have found many of the comments on this site to be quite insightful and helpful in dealing with my own struggles here. Many of the more insightful comments on here were made by expats who have been here for a number of years and have learnt a thing or two about this country, it's capital and the psychology of it's people.

2. 'Don't you like Berlin? Leave!'

Could it be that this kind of attitude is part of the problem? Could it be part of the reason why so many foreigners struggle here despite their best intentions? Has it occurred to you that some expats find themselves stuck here for family or other very good reasons? Perhaps you didn't give enough thougth to this before calling us all idiots and telling us to 'just leave'.

3. Do you want to live in Prague? Live there!

Of course, when coming to Europe, one has many options. I think many on this site would choose to live elsewhere if circumstances and health allowed it. But again, you didn't think of that did you? Besides there is nothing wrong with people here pointing out how great other European cities are as well as sharing their bad experiences regarding Berlin.

4. You don't like Slaves?

Huh?

5. Who 'are you pleased with? U Jerks! When you start to miss your country then follow mommy! :))))))'

Well, where to begin? First, you generalise, assuming that people who post on this site are jerks. Having read through all the commentary and partaken in some interesting discussions I would say that most here are definitely not jerks. But they do take issue with Berlin/German worshipping folks who come onto this site solely for the purpose of shit.ting on people who are struggling here and need to vent.

To add to this I would say it's normal and natural for any foreigner to feel homesick whilst in a new country. It's also normal to have gripes about your chosen (or not..) country. The Germans and their worshippers have plenty to say about my country, even though they don't know nearly as much as they think they do. It sounds to me like your the one whose mother should give you a good hard spanking.

I anticipate the triggered and fact-free response of the person who wrote the comment concerned.

If some fool thinks that Prague is an evil east, it should open your eyes! It is a beautiful and rich city! Clean streets, clean and modern subway and safe environment. Very nice!

I saw a post about the lack of berlinhaters who left the sh*thole for a new city/country. So here is mine, first i wanna thank this website that made me feel a little more sane and not alone during my 2 years in Berlin a year ago. I came back to my hometown (Paris, Fr) for few months to prepare my new life, and now i live in a quite big city in Spain (not Barcelone which is, i think ,a sunny Berlin) since few months. I still have anxiety crisis, hypocondrie, tinnitus and other physical problems thanks to Berlin. But i'm starting to recover slowly. Here the streets are clean, the sky is blue, everyone is welcoming, friendly, dress properly, don't have any problem with money, it's safe, no drugs, no broken up people, i can basically talk to anyone without rejection from their part. I have a job, collegues are nice and friendly. Life.is.beautiful. I'm trying to warn any people who is like "ooh i would like to live in Berlin, such an amazing city! , it's gonna take few years till i get fully comfortable, cause i'm still scared of being screamed at in shops/restaurants, or being mugged by creepy crack heads...but well i'm recovering!! So yes guys theres is hope after hell!! Don't give up!! I still come here from time to time to remember the hell i lived and how i slowly recover.

So yes there is other wonderful cities in the world where people are normal and humans. it still exists. DON'T GIVE UP AND RUN AWAY AT ALL COSTS from this sh*thole, If you wanna stay sane mentally and recover quickly! Stay home the most that you can, create your bubble of happiness, you hut of peacefullness, put your head in a book/joyfull music who warms your heart during transports, find a home hobby, and it will be fine, this is how i survived during 2 years, oh and put your head into finding the city of your dreams and work on your plan to escape! Heads up!!

Yes, I don't see anything wrong with it. The personal space thing is pretty good. Of course these idiots so to speak should not feel like they had to do it, they should feel how it feels for them. Ideally someone moves freely within their personal space, it kinda does everything karmawise in many cases. Lately, I waited at a bus station and some guy with his wife, holding hands walked by way too close. Noone likes this. So while I didn't feel like walking ahead, I felt it could! be that I wanted to, he should consider that. So that's why I did it, angrily. I wasn't sneaky or such, that wouldn't make any sense. I happened to bump into him. He brainfarted a sorry. He got it. He was doing it off, ah this guy, he ain't gonna do anything or if then he reacts to me. He did feel better because of it or he wouldn't been so quick to say sorry. After all I was running into him with anger, I mean he could seen it like that. Because I didn't do that. I just moved in my space, kind of a bluff call. The sorry really shows how he was aware, but acted as if not. If he didn't notice me as he pretended to, he would have felt offended at first but how come he knew. And it probably was his wife even, where he felt he would be weak if he would move over.

0 of 2 people agree with this

Surely in some situations it doesn't feel like doing that. Is it a provocation, is it like the above. But yeah, that's the natural way to go about personal space things. You could get something out of your bag in a queue. Many confuse this with being passive aggressive. You could!, Sure you don't feel like it, but you could. But if you are reacting to it, you are on the low level then. It's not a lie.
