Yes, my Berliner "friends" were very unhappy when I would meet with other foreigners and would refuse to come along. Also my closest Berliner "friend" was always trying to convince me to go to the sauna with him, telling me how great it is to enjoy the atmosphere "as God created me". Disgusting human being who was always drunk.
Competition is only part of it... my Berliner Mates were always critical of everything I did... condescending, superior attitudes. After a few years I just cut out all but one of them and even he still feels the need to give me advice and tje benefit of his world view without the capacity to accept criticism or questioning in return.

She hasn't done anything brilliant. Until the refugee crisis, her legacy was doing nothing at all. She's not a strong leader, she's not inspirational. She's not even a good strategist. Germany isn't bad. Berlin is not Germany, whcih can be seen also in the city's policy and administration.
Women shouldn't work nor study anyways. Most of the women that go to college get useless degrees. The ones that do get useful degrees only work for like 2 or 3 years before getting pregnant and retiring from the workforce.
Do a quick Google search with the query "women at work experiences" and you will read a ton of horror stories. Women have the mental maturity of a child, and are thus not fit for working, like men are.
The above argument is ridiculous. Not all men get useful degrees and most job positions don't require a specific degree to do. They still expect some degree as it's seen as standard and for positions that do require specialization, like engineering, they aren't going to hire someone with an unrelated degree who knows nothing about it. To be honest, the worst thing about women in the work place from my experience is they are able to sit on their butt and stay focused much longer than men. I think men evolved around being active, so sitting still and focused at a desk all day is a challenge. In this regard, they are often seen as more productive workers (when at work) even if men are more likely to put in longer hours and take less leave and tend to get promoted faster because of that.

It's always very annoying when you pronounce a proper noun that is not german in it's original language, and you're being corrected because it does not match the way germans pronounce it, as if that's the only correct version.
I find it hilarious that you would find it hilarious that non native speakers would have trouble understanding different accents from the same language but then again as American it's expected that you're a bit dim when it comes to thinking about how others might see the world.

Unfriendly middle-aged women with East Berlin mentality. The whole charme of a city that is too full and behaves like it's overly important and busy all the time. Whenever I went to the doctor they were unfriendly, and I was not even going often, and so full people had to stand. When I called a doctor's office they were unfriendly and acted like they are closed because of too much wealth. The general mentality is: We have enough customers, just go somewhere else!!
I recently saw some job adds for a ridiculous company in Berlin, some fashion bullshit, they were looking for people to prepare packages. Their whole website was full of spelling mistakes and embarassingly put sentences, like it was all a huge joke. I bet they made a big poop show out of their search for a stupid butt to pack a few packages, like you need a doctor's degree for it. I mean, they're IN BERLIN!! Everything is gold in Berlin and oh so great. And then you look at it and it is just SHIT. Like literal shit. Like the poop on the streets. The poop smell everywhere. People pooping and pissing in the streets. pooping people.
Someone wrote here that Berlin is a party city and I think this is right. Lots of garbage from all corners of the world (and Germany) comes here, parties, and leaves. The people who try to live here become bitter psychos to survive.
What is funny: Since I know that this city is broken up and approach people like the psychos they are, knowing I will leave soon, they are suddenly very friendly to me.
I honestly don't understand how every single thing in this city can be full all of the time. Every mall, post office, bank, government office, doctor's office, playground, museum, art exhibition, bar, restaurant. Every street is 20% too small. Every aisle in every store is 50% too small. Every doctor's waiting room is 70% too small. Berlin even had it good in that vast portions of it were destroyed during the war and abandoned until the fall of the wall. But these idiotic civil engineers still didn't manage to build this city in any way that is conductive of normal, modern human life. You can't drive down any street in Berlin without encountering double-parked delivery vehicles, trash trucks, shop delivery vehicles, etc. These things aren't new - they have definitely not been invented only within the last 30 years. Why haven't these superior German engineers been able to make any kind of solution for them? Why are other big cities (that truly are big cities with large buildings, not just medium-sized cities spread over the area of four normal cities) able to cope so much better? What is so fundamentally wrong with Berlin that it cannot even provide the most basic things to support society?

Oh, god. Do not get me started on the art here. The city's motto is: "If it's shit, it's art". You hear that about lots of modern art, but here, it's taken as a commandment. Thou Shalt Make Incompetence In All Thine Works. Too stoned to go buy some art canvases? Do your painting on a piece of toilet roll. Too lazy to walk down the corridor for your fancy marker set? Just use a stub of crayon or crap. Too self-important to devote actual time to your creation? Just scribble a few jerky lines to reinforce just how much you DON'T CARE cause you are a REALLY REALLY IMPORTANT ARTIST with better things to do, like going to Berghain.
What galls me is that some people, who haven't seen how bad the art here really is, just assume that I'm biased against modern art, and I'm parroting all those cliche criticisms (it looks like a kid did it, do you call that art? I could do better. Etc.)

The problem is that all artists in Berlin seem to have read those same cliched criticisms of modern art and, without having ever looked at any actual examples of modern works, have decided that doing childish, incompetent poop is commendable, so why bother doing more than that? They become the stereotype through their sheer ignorance of the reality behind it. (This is a pattern one see over and over in Berlin in all areas of life, not just art).

Merkel complaining about having lost a trusted ally in the world order is such a joke. Let's not forget about the depths to which Germany consistently sinks in order to gain an unfair advantage. One example: Remember about a decade ago before the bachelor and master degrees were introduced across Europe? Germany knew it's stupid diplom was already inferior, but the further bastardized it by introducing diplom 1 and 2 and reducing the credits needed. Then they act like a diplom is equal to a master's degree, which anyone familiar with the matter can flatly prove is incorrect. So they make their EASY degree even EASIER and then pretend it is worth something internationally. Maybe in Bangladesh. Joke of a country Germany.
Another example: freaking chimney sweeps from other EU countries were not able to work in Germany before 2013. Germany, in an act of desperate protectionism, tried hard to keep "traditional tradesmen" excluded from the German market. They dragged their feet until 2008, but managed to secure 5 more years before the laws were actually fully implemented. The EU is great for Germany to get cheap food, medicine and the like from foreign countries, but Germany of course has to prop up it's "superior" trades.
Another example: Germany was among the first countries to suspend free movement of people within the Schengan area.
If I hear anymore moral posturing from a German about globalism I will explode.
Once they start their trade war with America they can kiss those numbers goodbye. The media likes to pretend that Germany is so gracious to America, provides America with so many jobs and so on, but Germany gets much more out of the relationship than the US.
