In most big cities like London, Madrid, Brussels or Hamburg, you meet with colleagues for some drinks. But Berlin doesn't have any big companies. It's share of self-employed people and small enterprises is much higher than anywhere else. So financially everybody is on edge. And most people aren't affluent at all. Then add a substantial segment of really poor people living from entitlements of the state. It's a pity that in Berlin you won't ever hear lively chatter among 30 year old professionals in pubs and bars, filing out of their offices and enjoying life. These are the people who splurge on culture, fashion and art. These are the people who have careers.
Many local cultures make a virtue or "principle" out of a given fact. Correspondingly, Berliners hate normal corporate professionals and their lifestyle because Berlin hardly has any, yet. I'm sure one day one of its start-ups will grow massively and generate this professional class. Until then, it's a bad place for anybody aged 25-45 who wants to get along and get ahead. Until then, its horrible Brandenburg roots and harsh ever-present historical wounds will remain essentially un-transformed. Berlin is a city for layabouts, losers, bums, slackers, sh*t wannabe artists, alcoholics, drug addicts, people with personality disorders, people with very poor social skills. Germans are basically collectively autistic, so if you have horrible social skills/low empathy, you'll do well in Berlin. Berlin is at least 10-15 years away from any kind of transformation to become a cosmopolitan city. I think it will actually get worse as Islamisation and ghettoization increases. Imagine Berlin as ugly and depressing as it is, but with no go zones.

Is public urination legal here? I encounter it literally daily. Even in busy places. And the people are so freaking nonchalant about it. Saw some cow today help her daughter take a leak near Zoo station on the sidewalk directly in front of f*cking high-end store. Directly next to a van full of police. Probably needed to save herself the f*cking 50 cents it costs to use a public toilet. This city is full of savages.
Here's a strange phenomenon for you. I live in an apartmne by myself, next to me are three people with two tv's three computers and a radio, and yet each apartment pays the same money to the ARD TV leeches, even thog I have no TV, no radio and don't watch any German TV on my computer. Why don't they charge per square meter, not each apartment, it's totally unfair. And what's with the extremely high insurance bills? How rich are German doctors.
Germans think television/radio is some kind of basic human right and that it fulfills some noble educational need. Yet they're too stupid to develop some kind of equitable tax scheme for it, so they opt for a lump sum tax (which, by the way, they will go to great lengths to avoid calling it a tax). Hopefully in 2-3 more years the ECJ will rule that it is unconstitutional and Germany's propaganda machine will come to a grinding halt.
German insurance is also idiotic. You're forced to pay for the shut-ins who will never be able to become part of the German rat race because 1. they are too weak-minded, anxious, scared, incompetent, unintelligent, or lazy, and 2. the German business world is a gigantic despotic factory. Funny that my insurance in the US, which every German will criticize in a heartbeat, was cheaper and offered better coverage. Not to mention that American doctors are better educated (more college required), work harder (because they can actually be sued for malpractice) and friendlier (this doesn't need explanation).
