The postive sides are likely beer and being able to travel inside EU (couple times per year) Seriously, I think non EU people do come here because migrating to Germany is relatively easier than migrating to UK, US etc. (including myself) When they reach their target (It could be financial target, getting citizenship etc) they use Germany as stepping stone to move better countries.
Germany does not deserve high skilled migration until they figure out how to make those people content. Germany currently sees high skilled migrants as taxpayers to keep their "social system" in tact.
Why does Germany provide master / phd studies in English but nobody speaks English at Ausländerbehörde?
What do they think? Why is It not possible for someone to come to Germany, complete the master / phd studies in English and move on to somewhere else? If they claim, It is not possible to live Germany without knowing German, why do state universities provide high level education in English?
On the other hand, they accept B1 level of German as the sufficient level of German when they grant citizenship(for example If you work in IT, you can work with English in Germany without major issues) but If you try searching jobs in German with B1 level of German, they will tell, you have to speak at least B2 level of German. How does this make any sense? To be honest, If you are fluent in English, you can reach B1 level of German in one year (at least on the paper)
