What do people mean when they say thry feel free in Berlin? I have never felt free here. Nothingnbut busybody ex-stasis and oppressive laws against everything. And the people who say you can be whoever you want here? WHERE exactly can I escape the dour looks and passive aggressive comments from the judgey locals?
It’s both. It feels free to visit but not live. Also, some people just want to be free of responsibility and go on welfare and party. I guess depends on what you mean by free. I like partying, but the drawbacks as you mentioned from Berlin did not make up for it, plus I need a certain amount of money to live so that I don’t look/feel like a bum.
I have had two vaccinations. You get a cardboard booklet with stickers and a stamp. Then you have to take the time to go to a chemists to show them said booklet, then they take a day to provide a QR code. A QR CODE... and they print it and give it to you. You can develop AUDI but you cannot send a QR code by email. No... better waste some paper, a plastic wallet, oh and my time... and you have the audacity to peach to foreigners about öko.
When it was winter, I thought I hate Berlin winter. Now it is Summer, I think I hate Berlin Summer. When it was Autumn... yeah it goes on! Who of you out there knows what I mean when I say, I look around and don't feel the party any more. I just see young people smoking weed, grafitti and some yuppies... and that is all. I am 36. This city has no sophistication. I sit in my local square, the nearest green space I can find to my home. A guy comes around doing community service asks me to move my legs up from the bench so he can scrape up the hundereds of cigarette butts underneath my feet. The heat is stifling, there is no breeze, just muggy sweaty, smelly berlin with tourists and the locals that hate 'em. This moment encapsulates one of the many disconnects between groups. There is always a clash... no one seems to be empowering each other. There is no harmony. I walked around that square and it is a nothing vibe... just a bog, with sand, weeds, ugly buildings, and cold, rude, fearful people. Now to the 'why don't ya leave heckler?' the longer you stay the harder it is to leave the system as it tightens its claws around your soul... in the bog, with the sand, the grafitti, the cigarette butts and the nothing.
One day I will get out. Don't let me die here, so that whoever cares will have to decide whether to renew my plot of land or my body's fate is left to be dug up and thrown away by the German state...like the jews of Auschwitz.

Read the book Through the Language Glass. People also used to claim that French most closely mimicked human thought back before academic claims actually needed to be backed up by anything other than pompousness and the support of the aristocracy. Personally I think Germans are still excessively upset that there's no term like "lingua franca" referring to the German language. And, of course, they're still seething that English was chosen as the de facto official language of the EU.
And, of course, the German language isn't even precise. I can't think of any sentence in my native tongue as ambiguous as "Was von dir erwartet wird ist unmöglich".

It's the biggest economy in Europe, so they must do something right ... but it's difficult to see what it is.
