Why do germans build such ugly cement box houses? They look like bunker houses. I feel like I suffocate in them. And the interior decor is always super tacky and outdated.

Had a conversation with a German man yesterday. I need to emphasize - with a grown-ass man. He was probably in his 40s. And a few things occurred to me:
1. Why are German men so angry? I know that there are a lot of angry people in the world but here I see it much more often. They seem to live in a world in which they are angry at everything.
2. They do not tolerate differing opinions. If you have a conversation and both sides can't agree - why don't you just agree to disagree? No - they purposely want to keep the conversation going and try to force their world view on you?! Why? I am a different person, I might had a different experience in my life. Why do you think YOUR opinion is the right one, Stefan? Taking into account that you have never lived in other countries, grew up in a small German town and Berlin is the only big city you ever lived in?
3. Quite a few German men seemed to have travelled to the US a few times - probably to Los Angeles - and seem to have adopted a certain, well, swagger?! It is a kind of a demonstrative extroverted, expressive and very loud way of speaking, with a desire to be the center of the party at all costs. No offence to Americans, I think Americans and especially American men have a lot of good traits that German men do NOT have. But this expressive way of speaking seems to be typical of American corporate culture which is very competitive and where it is necessary to demonstrate a high degree of self-esteem all the time. Now, when German men try to adopt this 'swagger' it just makes them look like shouting dogs - due to the fact that they lack any charm. He was not the first German man I noticed to have this kind of behaviour, that's why I wanted to point it out.

The only US part I’d go and be super excited to is... Hawaii.

OMG, never go to live in LA or Hawaii, visit and then get straight out. If you want to live in the USA, try the part farthest north called Canada, where the people are down-to-earth, real and hospitable. If you didn't grow up with USA culture, you will go crazy there, it's a very weird place. The best place t be is where your friends and network are, that is how you get things done. Go back home and just have holidays to exotic places. Cultural shifts lead to mental illness. And whatever you do, avoid places with a strong left-wing/feminist culture, like Portland/Seattle/NYC, they will really screw your head up. Stay real brothers and sisters.

Well Germans think 30,000 EUR/year is a good salary. Minimum for a decent life in NYC is more than 3x that. Germans can't imagine a life where they actually have to fend for themselves. Too many Germans in NYC on vacation as it is. Wish it was possible to go on vacation anywhere and get away from these assholes.

Come on, what should Islam fix? I respect relegions since it means something to someone but other than that it is not good to live by a book instead of your feel and common sense. So no, no book will solve a thing. Just like Bhuddism, they went all nuts about this living in the moment, turned it into something it never was meant to be. Yes, it's good to live in the moment but not with an extra freaking pressure like awareness, that was though not meant that way. The real Bhudda probably facepalming on this anyway.

When expats say they moved to Germany because it seems like a good place to raise a kid I really can't help but wonder what exactly they mean. Do they mean it seems like a place where raising a child is easy because the government takes over starting at 6 weeks and doesn't stop until the kid is like 25? Do they mean it's good because someone else is going to be paying the bill for the kid forever? Do they mean it's a good place because, unlike most other western nations, here they kind of just sweep sexual assaults, physical abuse, paedophilia and human trafficking under the rug and pretend it isn't a problem? Do they mean it's good they won't have to worry about if their kid is out drinking and doing drugs and having casual sex because in Berlin they can be 100% sure that their kid is doing all of those things? What do they mean? They will never be more specific when I ask.

OMFG the worst is when companies claim they cannot do anything because of DATENSCHUTZ! I was recently at the customs office to pick something up (because Germany's duty-free limit is a pathetic 25EUR) and the lady in front of me was saying that he parcel was there but that she didn't have the document anymore that said she needed to pick it up and the man working there claimed he couldn't help her because of DATENSCHUTZ. What a freaking joke, protecting my data from ME? What a bunch of Kafkaesque nazi bitches.
