Germany is about to pass a new law that will make it illegal to burn the EU flag (actually it will expand the protections given to the German flag, as well as the individual flags of German states). Not only burning will be illegal, but also doing anything considered "Unfug" with it. The is no doubt a proactive attempt to prevent wide scale anti-EU protests. The EU is probably more hated in Germany than it has ever been thanks to thr passage of Eurobonds/Coronabonds which violate the German cobstitution. Almost silently, after thr EU rules that Germany is to lose further autonomy, Merkel conceded and the Coronabonds were allowed.
Big loss for sovereignty, big loss for free speech. Exactly what you'd expect from Germany and the EU (which is basically just Germany 2.0).
I have to return to Berlin soon for a few weeks. I’ll remember to keep berlinhater in my mind the whole time because, well it will keep me sane. I always just thought it was my fault and didn’t realize so many felt the same way. Now if freedom of speech were allowed, people would vocalize this .
I just simply feel afraid to leave the house unless I am going somewhere I know my friends are. I don’t understand how I was so social in the beginning. Now I am extra careful who I meet because there are so many broken people in this place. Especially germans. I won’t make friends with new germans. I had rose coloured glasses on in the beginning, until I saw so many broken up things around me. I’m on edge constantly.
White German men agress me and so do the women, they push into me. Junkies are in the subway, the entire city smells like piss. I watch what I wear so people will leave me alone. I don’t get how I ever felt relaxed and comfortable in this place. I have grown to fear interacting with others
The hostility even extends into the expats. You can see it on sell your stuff Berlin. Nobody can have a nice thing. Socialism wants to keep you down. People want to hurt me for no reason, they want to verbally assault or insult me.
When I first moved to Berlin I thought it was just neukolln that felt dodge, then I moved to Kreuzberg and that’s where I got attacked; then to friedrichshain and it is just as dodgy. The only place I ever felt safe was my Schöneberg sublet but even then, the building was haunted and the old German man used to stand directly behind me on the balcony next door and breathe down my neck until I went inside .
Imagine if ppl went up to germans and were like yeah how many nazi's were in your family and how many innocent ppl did your family members rat out and kill ?? No one does that but given their history especially germans in Berlin we all should be asking them !!!
Tschuuuuuuu-euuuuuu-eyeuuuuuuu-uuuuuuuu-sssss
Ducking so irritation
I don’t get why all the interesting people make a mass exodus from Berlin to a city that deserves their energy
Why they don’t. why are they there. They should move the community elsewhere. Exodus! Stop trying to convince germans to have souls! Leave them and their stupid stupid land to rot in hell and take your friends and sanity somewhere else to promote so less people come to Berlin and get so broken up that there has to be a site called berlinhater!
Berlin is just bad vibes. But hey you can avoid those on drugs until you realize you wasted your entire life in Berlin
Just recently I was listening to an interview with Milton Friedman where he was talking about how persistent intoxication is basically the same thing as suicide. Couldn't help but think of Berlin. A couple of months ago a guy posted a link to a miniseries with Milton Friedman called "Free to Choose". It describes Berlin perfectly. The only path to happiness is leaving.
They have tunnel vision there. It happened t me too. I’m not sure what it is, maybe ketamine ? People take a lot of that there. It makes you think there is nothing beyond what you are seeing . You forget your past, what made you who you are. You forget the big, beautiful world out there. Happy and healthy human interaction. No, the place just wants you to sell your soul, to “make it” as an artist... meanwhile there is no making it there. It just ruins people . FUCKK that
The axis of evil and the topography of terror are still part of a foreigners daily existence in Berlin.
I started seeing how backwards the thinking of people here truly is when I was walking by Cafe Sibylle once and saw that their wondows had been completely smashed recently by an anti-gentrification/antifa mob. There was a note on the window that said something like "Hey everyone, Please understand that we are actually on your side and are also against gentrification. We are a small, independent cafe that has been run for 30 years blablabla and we will also continue to fight against gentrification". The scummy leftists that are destroying property and burning cars don't even know who they are attacking. And the people who are being attacked are forced to show support for their oppressors. This is about 1 step from paying protection money.
And then an ex-gf I had a few years ago (German) said to me after the truck attack on the Christmas market at zoo: "I really hope there aren't more attacks done by refugees because then it will give the nazis even more of a reason to gain influence". It's like this whole society is just a race to have the most illogical, convoluted way to form an opinion on anything. She has been conditioned her entire life to not say things like "I really wish Islamists wouldn't do terror attacks" so she has to find some adjacent excuse to say the same thing.
Oh yeah. She also used to constantly refer to her black friend (behind his back of course) as "her nigger" and now she's sharing all those vapid "White privilege is XXXXX" facebook memes.
Germans are dumb. Berlin is a scam. It's impossible to be happy in a relationship with a German if you're a foreigner. The only place you can suffer through a life in this city is by losing all motivation and willpower, drugging yourself with weed or MDMA or alcohol or SSRIs. No wonder there are so many alcohol- and drug-related deaths in this country. Germans don't count those as suicide which is one way they keep the truth suicide numbers here so low.
Sometimes I can't point my finger on what I dislike about things in this city - I just know that it's wrong. Yesterday I went to fashion store on Friedrichstrasse. It is an international, well-known fashion brand. The shop assistants were mostly German males with immigrant backgrounds (you can see it in the way they walk and their ghetto accents). Just a few observations:
- The general form of communication among the employees was yelling. Yelling across the shop, with extensive hand gesturing.
- I saw one female customer trying to buy something. She asked in English how much it was. The cashier simply continued barking the amount in German.
- In the fitting rooms it seems acceptable for the shop assistants to overrun customers and take up as much space as possible. Customers are being treated as an annoyance.
- When I paid the cashier asked me if it rained outside?! I was puzzled and answered 'No', and added 'Not when I was outside, but I have been in this store for half an hour now'. He replied: 'Don't worry'. After this incident, I wished I was a true Berliner. Then I would have simply replied to his question: 'Am I the weather report?!'
Yes. Its weird i can speak fluent german and have even studied a degree here but i still have issues ordering a döner becuase i still havent developed the ability to shout in the right way.
Basically when you go to a dönerladen you must immediately know what you want and bark it at them directly or they dont understand. This especially applies to the KRÄUTER SCHARF and SALAT ALLES part. Or KETCHUP. There must be no in betweens or they'll act angry at you for not knowing exactly what you want.
This somehow is a result of german expectations. Its the same thing if you go into a copy shop to print or get a thesis bound. There are about a thousand options for colours and laminates and binders etc. And when you go up to order they get impatient when you dont already know what colour you want and what kind of press (thermobindung or whatever).
I just think im the customer, do you want my money or do you want me never to come back. And how am i supposed to know all the specific options if ive never been here. That is what german society is like in general: they have absolutely no patience for anyone who doesnt already know the rules. Its as if they think it should be innate. Like the rules are somehow natural and you have something wrong with you for not knowing them already. I think that they actually dont realise they are just arbitrary.
Watch Germans at these kinds of places. Apparently there are some unwritten social rules you have to follow if you don't know every single detail of exactly what you need. You walk in and you use a really dumb voice and basically act like you're an idiot. Say "Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch meine Güte, so viele Optionen! Wo soll ich denn bloss anfangen?!?!?!?" and then the shop clerk will go through their whole Spiel on everything they offer.
But you're absolutely right. Here's a game I play when I enter a store. If I encounter an employee and they let me walk in front of them then I will stay and consider buying something. If they push through like tribal animals then I leave and never come back. It's why I never shop at discounters anymore (aside from the fact that their selection sucks). Guess this mentality stems from the GDR where the people running shops were de facto royalty since they could control who got what goods. Same with doctor's assistants.
I remember a vintage store In friedrichshain had an employee. No one was in the store and I took many things to the chaneroom. She knocked after five minutes to ask if I had decided, then tried to kick me out of the store, calling me an idiot. I stood there in the change room and said, I’m an idiot? I’m wearing the stores clothing. How can I leave if I’m wearing your clothing. She said “you’re so stupid, aren’t you?”
The civil thing to do, would just say “excuse me you can’t take that many items to the change room” but she didn’t. So I just put on my clothing and left a mess and left, she refused to let me buy anything.
These people are uncivilized brutes
I called the shop and left a voicemail of what happened, it’s too bad because I liked that store and I never went back because I was Afraid. Problem is, I’m sure the managr thought it was some kind of “speak to the manager” moment and they must have listened to the mail and laughed at the “stupid” North American just trying to buy a shirt.
Fucking nazis
^oh yeah lol I just remembered, when I left I said I would have bought 300€ worth of clothing which is as much as she makes in several days.
This was when I still had savings from arriving in Berlin and one of the first crazy experiences I had therE. Don’t move to Germany. Or, if you must just sublet for a year. Don’t relocate. I’m gone and I have no regrets leaving that place
After a surgery, I was relying on crutches for a few weeks and I noticed something disappointing:
Hardly any building here is accessible for people with a disability and EVEN WHEN something is, these Germans consider it a success for their reeeeeaaaallly advanced accessibility and SUPERIOR DEUTSCHE EFFIZIENZ UND TECHNIK
(More like efficient thinking...)
The sad truth is...
Disabled people are treated like feces here. Hardly anyone offers you help, even when you are not specifically asking for help. One day, I was struggling to get through a revolving door when a German behind me just grumpily told me to hurry up. Or another day, when descending the stairs, a woman just squeezed between me and the railing nearly causing me to stumble. When I tried to tell her, she didn't even listen and scooted away.
I feel sorry for the thousands of disabled people who are forced to put up with these uncooperative and unsensitive Krauts who will treat you like dog feces.
It might be only me, but this country feels like a big conspiracy.
the only efficient thing about germany is their cold way of thinking but it doesn't mean that they are practicical it usually just means cheap, cold, overly rational, record everyting, no emotion, no ability to think outside box and don't forget... society falling apart, nothing makes sense.
it is a conspiracy. they want to take your tax money and they want to torture you for fun. or what you think things change so much since ww2? forget all the propaganda you have ever heard about berlin right now I want you to forget it. this is why berlinhater exists in the first place ok. FORGET IT. now, forgetting you are in berlin what you read about, start to look at the city for what it is. just detached, objectively. this is a qyality germans lack. now notice how what you've been told is complete opposite to everything you've experienced.
Yesterday kind of late I was coming back home on my bike. For the last few meters I slowly rolled down the sidewalk and slowed down even more when someone appeared in front of me. After all it wasn't my space to drive, its for pedestrians. All over sudden someone on a bike came up behind me shouting why I don’t ring the bell and make the pedestrian jump aside. I let her pass me and asked why I would do that. No reaction, instead she just pushed her way past the pedestrian.
I feel so ugly here because I refuse to have that “hipster” or grunge look. People give me no attention
I dress up just for fun.I don't know why some people said it is stupid woman thing.Man also dress up amd groom them and it looks good and it does not mean that tjey are desperate to find a wife or sell their body. But when dress up in Berlin I suddenly am regared as a stupid woman wjo only think about how to get a man or prostitute. Please don't judge me becaue I am dressed up!
Not even the prostitutes dress properly here. I know because I am one. Look at the ads online on kaufmich or Berlin Intim It’s total trash. Look at Artemis. Trash. The prostitiues in Berlin don’t even do professional photos. Don’t even buy lingerie. They’re lazy. They look like you would find in berghain for free and don’t even bother to take care of themselves. Only good ones are in charlottenburg and even then... they charge very little. Berlin is just bad
Anyone hit up the BLM demo today at Alexanderplatz? Didn't even see a single black person there.
legal advice. if something stupid happens to you in berlin (ie: the insult law, you tell someone to fornicate off) does that mean germany can arrest you in all of eu if you don't pay the fine? currently dealing with this stupidity at the moment and they are threatening if I don't pay them an exhorbitant fee ill have a search warrant for my arrest out in all of EU (8000 euro) or spend 8 months in jail ...check my last post for detail
I would just not return to germany but this is what my lawyer is saying, however he is german and im not sure this is exactly accurate...seems like a dumb threat from the state trying to get my money. its not even the person in question I filed the dumb insults from...and this is not the first time germans have tried to take advantage of me....from police fines... landlords....man overcharging me at farmers market...or just in general.... thoughts on this? not all of EU has this stupid insult law, so it likely doesn't apply????
he's saying they could put out a warrant so if I cross any other EU border I could get arrested. but like, im not sure about that..... do any other countries have this law? why would they care? or does it just say "warrant" with no detail?? idk, ,im sick of these germans and their stupid threats....
these insults were just vague and through text "fuck you" etc.... nothing slanderous, nothing directly hurtful... this is the craziest thing that happened to me in germany AND IM ALREADY OUT OF THE COUNTRY. still have to abmeldung, but like.... come on idiots, just let me leave your dump in peace.! try to ruin my life and take everything I have.... uhh1h1hh1h1h1hfhhhah don't move to berlin kids!
^OP here. Are you sure? This is what my lawyer said. Just want to clarify.
Should I also close my bank account? I’ve closed my internet and electricity and other account, only thing I need to close is N26. They can’t just take money of it can they? I’ve transferred most of the money out.
I just want to make sure they can’t arrest me in other places in eu
And also I cannot believe they are demanding this exhorbitant fee for insulting a german. It’s just the stupidest thing I have ever seen in my life. They really need that tax money for god knows what. Probably so their little German boys and girls can stay on welfare. Very efficient. Clowns
