What's going on with romantic relationships in this city? Lots of single mothers, spinsters, repressed chubby men who complain that no woman will ever approach them, old lonely men with drinking problems, people with commitment issues since 'there is always a better option out there', et cetera. I could go on for hours. This city is f***d up.
There are at least three reasons for this:
1. Average mentality in Berlin is still very much stuck in DDR socialism. Socialism = negative selection. In such an environment low IQ people 'prosper', while intelligent few relocate/escape to somewhere else where they can fulfill their potential.
2. Social welfare and lots of unnecessary public sector jobs (80% women): money from productive private sector pockets is transferred (via taxes) to female pockets and jobless bums. Women don't need men to support themselves or to share living costs, they have become 'independent' = employed by 'nanny state'. At the same time, some lazy jobless anarchist bum is not motivated to work after reading Karl Marx and squating in 'free' apartment. He hates capitalism, but he doesn't mind spending free money provided by 'nanny state'.
3. Berlin is transitory city: lots of people come here, but since they are gone in a few weeks/months/years they are not looking for anything serious in the first place.
I know a Berliner couple that is the weirdest pair of breathers ever. Not even humans. Breathers. He is a lazy ass, passive, BUT with a good self esteem, she is a wanderer with no real job or goal for the past 5 years... I am not sure your reading comprehension is as good as you think it is: this study simply narrowed the range of climate increase. It still says it's going to increase, with their highest confidence at ~2.8c increase by the end of the century. At the top of their predicted range they say the change in climate "could pull at the fabric of civilisation."
