So, I played some fun, innocent little PvP online games against some of my German "friends". (Tabletug to be precise - just google it). And since I have a pretty good eye for people around me, I noticed something which kind of took away the fun but maybe revealed a deeper truth about these folks to me: Since I've played it several times, I naturally got better at it, so I won the first few times. Then my friend got kind of annoyed, saying that the game isn't even fun. So I let him win a few times. Suddenly the game was enjoyable. Until I won again, then it started getting nasty; he tried distracting me and disturbing me in so many ways, until I didn't want to play anymore. Best part? He said only under one circumstance... and that is admitting to him that he won. The heck. I have played this game with friends from the States before and never have I seen anyone be so ridiculously competitive about something that is just supposed to be fun.
I know the feeling. Some Berliners and I played something called kakelake or something. It was their idea. I was a bit slow in the beginning to which they had an attitude of being superior and telling me things such as "in your face!", "you're slow like a grandma"... And I'm just like sitting there thinking:"wooow, it's just a silly little game and I'm not even winning and they are still being aggressive about it..." I did not enjoy it one bit even though I thought the game itself was pretty fun, pardon, could have been if played with the right people.
As much as I like the idea: no. Germany has won plenty of wars, if you just risk a look in any history book it can tell you that. Besides, even if it were true, French people would need to be even bigger douchbags, which they aren't. I do think the wars played their parts too, but even without them, their culture has been way too "progress" driven for centuries. That plus the general idea of "everyone fends for himself" which effectively takes away any hope for some unbiased harmless little fun without everyone taking it personally (of course they'd never admit that; that's what the beer is for)...

Yeah it will certainely upset them, but they are pretty coward from what I have seen so far. They will just swallow their hate and deal with the situation. And what I say "deal with the situation" I mean that they will probably talk about how much hey freaking hate the foreigners with their fellow germans while getting drunk and even more miserable (provided this is possible for them to get more miserable as they already are)

I hate the grey skies, the Ellenbogengesellschaft, I hate so much about this city I can't even describe it. People are rude, selfish, don't have any manners and make you feel like poop if you're not an arrogant, extroverted and loud person. If you're a highly sensitive person or just remotely introverted, I wish you the best luck to get out of this pile of poop as fast as possible so you won't end up like me having to struggle with a bloody major depression while taking a handful of useless as f*ck antidepressants. People do not understand the concept of anything that lies below the surface, any warm human interaction, any selfless behavior. If anyones ever nice to you they probably want something from you. f*ck this place
keep spreading the word its a joke. It was cool for a short time while the Techno club culture was at its peak about 8 years ago and stopped about 3 or 4 years ago when all of the worlds dickheads came from Australia, Ireland and America and some insignificant places. The Boiler Room party crowd have helped commercialise and piss on it and helped push up the rents of anywhere decent which was and is Berlins only selling point.
I was born in this city and have spent almost all my life living here, so you would think I got adjusted to it at some point: no. I have been feeling uncomfortable here for as long as I can know, and I'd be lying if I said it didn't have any long-term effects on me at all. If you've ever visited another city such as Paris, London, or even anywhere in Scandinavia, you can quickly tell how the general mood is. Where to begin? Is it the "German attitude"? The food? The sour faces? The cold, calculating exactness and strictness? The busy streets and noise? The impoliteness? The lack of decency? The fact that you can't make proper friends? The ill-minded obsession with competition? The ugly architecture and lifeless streets? I could go on for hours, still not the wiser. Now to be fair, compared to a lot of other cities outside of Germany, it's supposed to be pretty stable and secure in fairly many ways: no earthquakes or other natural disasters, pretty solid traffic system, almost everything is secured on a written document, which gives a feeling of security and organization- stuff like that. I am constantly told I should appreciate these things, but that's like telling a bird locked in a golden cage to appreciate the material. In any case, I'm really glad I'm not alone with these feelings, despite being told the opposite many times. I just hope I can get my life together and move out of here as soon as possible, and hope the same for everyone else on this site. Hang in there, and thanks for reading.
I'll be visiting Berlin after leaving there 1year ago. My rules for having a good time is as follows:
1) Dont talk to any Germans.
2)Ignore the stares...and often stare BACK.
3)Only let my non-German friends know Im in town.
4)Decline all meals offered by my German Host.
5)Get to Prague as SOON as possible.
6)Be kind to/Help as many Tourists as possible in English!
7)Never ask a Berliner how they are doing. For it often ruins my f**king mood.
Don't you hate all this people saying: "I love Berlin", "Best city in the world", "This place is awesome", "Youre so lucky of being there". Ok move there and stop annoying me, because I'm gald as hell I got out there.
The worst being the people making those comments while they actually LIVE HERE. Fuck!ng hell I get this everyday "what??? You don't like living here? But it is so cool!"

Berlin is THE worst place in the world. I hate everything about Berlin and Germany. I feel cheated by the cretins who told me it is an amazing city and I'll learn so much! No one freaking tells you jack crap about all the paper work and restrictions and taxes before you arrive! I just hate it so much. I'm currently home visiting for a week but I fly back tomorrow and I just keep crying knowing I have to go back but I have no where else to go. My amazing partner is in berlin so I can't leave but as soon as he's finished uni I'm leaving and taking him with me! I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE! It's nothing more than a shallow dark cesspit. Local people are rude and ignorant, the "expats" are mostly rich hipster kids freelancing as an artist voluntarily living in squalor because it's "cool" but still getting money from daddy back home, or immigrants who look at us women like we are nothing more than a piece of meat there for their sexual entertainment! This city is broken and if I have to live here more than one year I'm going to lose my shit! I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!!!!
