It's been five years since I left Berlin and I still my initial reaction to any conflict is to lash out and shout at people instead of dialogue. In just two years Berlin turned me into a savage and I still haven't fully recovered.

Can someone explain to me property taxes in Berlin? Considering saving and buying property in prenzlauerberg or Schöneberg but making my money in another country. That way most of what pisses me off about Berlin (taxes and low wages, relying on germans for income) will be eliminated. But are there crazy property taxes? I haven’t owned a flat before. Please explain
Property taxes are low right bow due to a miscalculation in how property values are assessed. Germany has ruled that the current way they are calculated is in violation of the German constitution but has not said how it will be changed moving forward. I am sure they will do everything possible to avoid any real estate market shocks, but I would expect prices to change a lot within 5 - 10 years. That said, German politicians are trying hard to pop the Berlin real estate bubble (with rent caps and regulations on rentals, etc.) so who knows? I also thought there would be a big coronavirus exodus of non-Germans but it doesn't seem to be happening.

They’re the biggest hypocrites on the planet and the rules don’t make sense. Just look at how the gender changes based on tense for words. The only way I could learn german was to not question if things made sense and instead blindly accepted it. This could be said for most things about the society.
On vacation outside of Berlin. Still in Europe but haven't seen anyone pissing in the street. No drugged out zombies. No aggressive locals. Everyone I have dealt with was respectful. No sarcastic comments at my expense, no passive aggressive sighs. No staring on the trains. No nudists at the beach. No dirty glasses at the restaurants. No dog poop on the sidewalk. No gays rubbing each other off in the parks. GTFO out of northern Europe, it's a darn zoo up there.
Oh and almost forgot: free public bathrooms, free drinking fountains and air conditioning in most restaurants, museums, bars, etc. Tons of families out enjoying the weather.
For Americans it's easy to feel like Europe is a giant pit of crap, but that's mostly Northern Europe.
I remember once I was in Amsterdam and saw they seriously set up outdoor urinals in the middle of the streets (no privacy walls, nothing - just guys with their d1cks out in the open). That would be unthinkable here. And in most of the civilized world. But in Northern Europe it's normal. It's about one step above designated pooping streets in India. And Germans try to lecture me.

I don’t understand the price of flats here vs people’s salaries.
They could have bought those apartments ten years ago for a fraction of the price, but these imbeciles say "we are Germans, we don't buy, we rent", stock answer every time. I didn’t feel as weird as I do in Berlin that she went full naked, she went to the designated place after all. Even though I as wearing a bathing suit, no one was nasty, said anything or gave a shit.
Everyone was enjoying a day in the water.
