I have done all the wrong things: Saw the flags when moved here, ignored and gave it another chance. Tried to date Germans, saw the flags, ignored, still went for it. Friends. Flags. Ignored.
Now I am traumatised, I have anxiety but... I am grateful AF for it. I matured in this time 3x as much. For me Corona is a blessing in disguise. Stay at home to be with myself is comfortable now & beneficial.

It's serious, but yes - it sucks . We should get over it without a 100 per Cent shutdown... if you are healthy- go for freedom. Keep your distance, breathe the contamination and maybe let your body COPE with it . It needs to develop coping strategies. If you don't die it will make you immune. More likely.

US Fed reduced the fed rate to 0%. We are all officially fucked. This is what true psychosis feels like and we're never going to wake up from it. If you're from Europe at least you can walk home. I'm from the US so I will never see my parents again. We might not die but this is the great depression all over again and Germany's stoking anti-Americanism (see fake news on vaccine "only for America" story from Welt today). I don't even know what to do anymore except buy puts and sit in my apartment alone.
Basically impossible to fly to the US for the next 6-10 months minimum. Public shutdowns are going to be stop and go so there will be periodic flare ups with this virus. You won't be able to fly for a long time with any reasonable assurance that you're not being exposed to corona. If you're visiting elderly parents then you'll need to self-quarantine for at least 2 weeks before (3 is better). Not really a feasible solution and the corona crisis could continue indefinitely, especially since something like 15% of those who are infected become infected again. That also completely ignores how bad things are going to get economically. After a month or two a huge number of people are going to be unemployed as there are very few sectors that won't be hit by this. The government can't just pay everyone's wages for months. Airlines are going to restrict flights and prices will skyrocket. This isn't exaggeration. If you spend five minutes thinking about what is likely to happen you'll come to the same conclusion.

The German government (I assume the Left/Green/SPD but I'm not 100% sure) is trying to push through a new law that requires social media companies to inform the police when they delete comments due to Durchsetzungsgesetz. This is going to completely destroy any critical thought online in Germany (assuming there was any to begin with).
All the state rulers shut down while cities. Instead of leaving the fragiles inside and letting the healthy ones get IMMUNIFIED by the cute corona and let them have just a tiny cold with not-so-severe-symptoms they cause a lack of economy! Like they needed to make a loss. Losses are very important in economy

My gut feeling is the Corona Virus panic is a scam. The Chinese economy gets destroyed, the huge multi-nationals get rid of pesky small-to-medium businesses, a great opportunity to trial the effects of mass panic and shutdowns.

I just don't get it. Norway announced they're not allowing anyone in the country unless they self-quarantine for 14 days (except people from other Scandinavian countries!). The EU didn't make an official statement about it. Haven't heard anyone at work talking about it. Only even found it in the news by reading every story about travel restrictions I can find. If Germans want to hold the US to a higher standard than they hold themselves then they should at least admit that they see their own country as inferior. German smugness is such an off-putting trait.

The population of this country is aging and they need people to work in various areas. ( IT, health care etc ) Which is fine but they offer really really laugable salaries for the jobs where supposedly they need massive workforce.
I work in IT. I have masters degree from Germany + 3 years of experience for the position I applied +2 years of IT project management experience and I also hold couple of job related certificates. It is needless to say I can speak English + German. I also have 2 years of international internship experience in UK and Netherlands.
I am not software developer but I could define myself as sysadmin + developer for one of the well known enterprise ITSM solution.
Anyways. I recently, couple hours ago, got offer from 50.000 Euro Brutto ( 1000 Euro net bonus per year ) from very well known global company in IT consultancy (platform consultancy) area. Is It joke. ?
What makes you think that, I would work for this amount of salary ? You offer barely 2500 euro net because of your ducking taxing system and you think you can attract compotent people ? I am not the only case. I talked with couple of my friends and they told me similar stories ( Company names are also well known, global )

I'm an American. While we do have some obvious perceived cultural differences, your tax rates in Europe make us cringe. How can so called free men accept a 42-45% tax rate? That's like almost half your income. Yeah I get it, roads, pensions, blah blah. But there comes a point where you might as well call it financial rape. We don't understand that here and consider it a form of economic slavery. You are basically working half the year for nothing. You have to live 20 years beyond retirement to just break even on what you pay in (not even taking inflation into account). The average will never see even that and it's robbery in plain sight. The whole system can't help but collapse under its own weight soon, especially if another 1m refugees are heading our way.

Berlin is going to be really really bad, in comparison to most other places in Germany. It doesn't help that this city always seemed to attract a lot of people fleeing responsibilities (whether they were justified or not) as well as "Nach mir die Sinnflut"-Hedonism which will cause a lot of troubles for everybody involved. In my opinion, everybody who can afford should leave Berlin while they still can. The medical system is going to collapse really soon, there is a real threat of social unrest and the population density mixed with horrible hygiene habits will explode real soon. This is not fear-mongering, but a realistic assessment of the situation.
But come on, give me them downvotes, I stand by my point that everybody who doesn't take this situation seriously is either really stupid or completely in denial. In the age of digital information flow, Ignorance is a choice!

Listened to a radio segment with a dr from Charité about the virus a few days ago. He basically said that Germany is trying to stagger the cases of the virus so that the whole healthcare system doesn't collapse like in Wuhan, and he's hoping young people don't start to get it in huge numbers until summer. He didn't say they're under reporting deaths but I think it makes sense. The entire media here is saying it's "just another flu" and ridiculing preppers for buying up canned goods and flour. Of course they'd massively downplay deaths - what choice do they have? The only down side is that you can't do that for long and soon there will be thousands of dead 60-80 year olds. Germans smugly think to themselves only 2 people have died because of their "superior" healthcare system but don't forget this: The annual flu death rate in Germany is 10% higher than in the US where people are much more likely to just tough it out without dr supervision. Critical mass will be reached soon.
