Does anybody feel like Germans are judgemental? It feels like they're either being way too critical or impatient, or just giving off this constant vague feeling of judginess. German friends tell me I'm imagining it, but it's doing my head in.

Yeah, it's because German society is so perfectionist. There is no way of getting through the system without being hypervigilant and jumping through so many unnecessary hoops. It is a corrective culture and being right is the highest ideal. This comes before thinking about your own or others feelings. But I don't think it is because Germans have no feelings, they have just been trained to focus their mind on rules and details so they can survive and not be ostracised in this environment. It's possible that their judgemental look comes from them constantly scanning to see whether they are conforming to whatever rules are in that place by first cooly observing.

No, they have weak minds because they don't feel their feelings. It's that simple. Many thoughts are not in itself but feel-related. Instead they try to make sense from this 2% life. Your soul or you is being not valued by that. Think about it, feelings were always undermined early on in life. It's freaking obvious and a poopeasy topic.

How do you feel you might wonder. Naturally it already comes up. Construction noise, you might feel like SHUT UP!! pure good anger, feeling comes up effortless expression. Even though the noise not vs you, doesn't matter. That would be the wild version, it's also never really offensive a pure feel, often the mistake is to push when the feel is not even there. It's also the clear difference to a provoked reaction. And then of course normal things we say, Can you not watch out? It's surely about sense, but it also makes sense to feel. If done correctly so to speak, it shud make you feel warm and understood and interestingly when after anger one feels better, we tend to say the same things lightly. It's surely about saying true things. And people often dump their feelings and that makes them not sane, they might just feel better but talk a lot of shit. True things you don't need to argue, it's nothing to defend, just happens to be as it is.

Man, you just don't get it. It's about valueing a feel bc it is there. Of course there is so many other feelings. I am talking feelings that were repressed. Often stuff you don't even want to look into bc you already feel. By not feeling you don't value yourself. All you see is that it was crazy, but tell me is thunder crazy? Surely if you question it you can't actually feel, if you try to judge it. But it's there, so wtf wud it be. It lightens you up, it's like love or also is, where the fuk do you think all the love is, gotto be somewhere. Not bout to tell sb to shut up. There is many things to say, how it expresses. It not even need selfconsciouness but even if, all it wud do is connect you back to life and feeling, you can anyway only do one.

I would not subject my children to this kind of culture. The pressure to perform in schools and universities is too high and people have to get Nachhilfe because it's not ok to ask questions. There is an unspoken sense of "either you get it immediately or you are stupid" and everyone in classes is constantly making a mental note of what they will look up later. This completely defeats the point of education. The focus on learning so much detail and theory is also not really applicable to real life. All you have is a basis, like say a formula sheet, to work from. The hard part is creative, original thinking and that is not only not encouraged here, it is frowned upon.

Wouldn't raise a kid here mostly because Germans don't take sexual abuse of children seriously at all. No one ever goes to prison for that kind of stuff, they get a fine or house arrest for a few months. In fact, it seems like people here just tell themselves it's not a big deal at all so they won't have to reconsiser their own sexual abuse as children.

Western Europe is pretty fucked. Population density is way too high here and there's dwindling private ownership of anything anymore. The share economy and low incomes here mean so many people are doing the microrent things for cars and bikes and scooters so you're constantly in contact with others' germs. Or as you mentioned you just ride the overfilled subways. Then you go home to your WG that's shared with 4 others. Or you spend all day in your shoestring, failing startup with open space offices and sitting 1m away from the next person 9 hours a day. If you're unlucky you get to share a computer with someone who works a different shift.

If you want to feel helpless then read this woman's account of trying to get tested for corona in Berlin before there were even any other people here that had it. They simply wouldn't test her. And, if you read to the bottom, you'll see she really does live in a WG with 4 others.

I am stunned how people are stuck in shitholes like Alexanderplatz which is actually ugly, or tell you to visit the ugly 70s moderna Television tower, while there ARE actually beautiful places here.
People are brainwashed and with no sense for real ethics.

Wannsee - Berlin district where there are people who actually sometimes say politely "Hallo" instead of staring at you like freaks. I personally dont think its Berlin but technically it is. Nature, forests, big clean river/lake.

Forest Grunewald

And if there is something really interesting in the city other than freaking WALL (jesus christ) which symbolizes how Germany was cucked and divided after war, its perhaps Gendarmenmarkt or Berlin Dome. One of few reminders of former Prussian Greatness.

Everything in ex-DDR looks like complete shit, especially the TV tower just feels like a tall Stasi always looking over your shoulder no matter where you are. The inside is ugly, just like the attitudes of the people who work there. It's amazing much little they've done to it in 50 years. They added a window to one of the elevators so you can look up into total darkness and that's pretty much it.

Also hard to enjoy any lake in Berlin - in the winter too many hikers pissing and pooping all over the woods within meters of walking paths and in summer full of nudists all around the banks of the lake. Probably better than Muggelsee but still complete bullshit. Too many gross exhibitionist men and naive and stupid families letting their kids be oggled by strangers.

Gendarmenmarkt is okay but just feels like a failing nostalgic location. Just a bunch of specialty flagship stores that should have boarded up 30 years ago. Doesn't actually feel like a place that anyone would really want to visit. Plus it's surrounded by all those Plattenbauten. The cathedrals are beautiful inside and out but it feels like visiting something of value inside of a Kaufland.

Even outskirt parts of Berlin are too densely populated. Feels like living inside of a train station all over the place.

Berlin is ugly as hell, however, if it wasn't for the people Alexanderplatz wouldn't be too bad. I think Friedrichstrasse is a lot worse than Alexanderplatz.

If you're from any other first world country (other than somewhere in Scandinavia) Germans will bombard you with weird stereotypes and half truths that you could almost start to believe that it's impossible to live in the UK, US, France or Japan without being under water in debt and living hand-to-mouth. It's easy to believe it, especially considering all the taxpayer funded things offered here. It took me a long time to realize that most of the stuff that people think is true here is far from it. And even those who recognize the shortcomings here, I often meet people who'll say things like "yeah, Germany is full of assholes, druggies and jerks but at least I can spend my 4 weeks of vacation each year somewhere else" and seriously think that that's a realistic approach to life.
