A cook at a pizzeria I regularly eat at just started acting aggressively towards me for no reason. I took my laptop out to do some work (which I usually do at that place) and he straight-up unplugged my cable and SLAMMED it into the ground. I told him that I'd be leaving a review on Google and then he started shouting VERPISS DICH!! RAUS!!! RAUS!!!! like it was 1940 all over again. Two German police officers were there watching the whole thing. They just stood there like dumbfounded idiots.

Stupid leftists love Berlin because they imposed radical rent control. I was one of those people, until I actually lived here. Now I realize, it was all because of the sheer amount of hatred in Berlin and they needed emergency measures to keep people from rioting or taking out the jackboots again.

What a toxic shithole.

i experienced the same shock with customer service last week.
- a BVG "lady" tried to convience me, that i want something from their officve center @ Zoologischer Garten that she cant give me. I tried to explain her the whole time , that last time her college did it without a problem.. omg.. their stupidity and superiority without even thinking and listeting.. OMG! in the end she did it, i won, but it costed me so much energy.
- i went to a hipster cafe and it was full, i asked the guy who served the tables if there is place for one person. he showed me one. i sat down and started to wait. nobody came, so i took the menu myself and continued to read the newspaper. after 40 minutes i decided to ask somebody, if they would take my order. i went to them and the same guy told me to wait and he will be soon at my table. i said: ok, fine. in 15 min new people came to the long table where i was sitting and the server came to take their order. i was like: hello, im waiting already for 40 minutes here. then he started to scream at me, like, you should come to me and say something.. i was like: i DID, 2 times! he continued to unpleasantly talk to me.. i said i dodnt want to fight here. so i ordered my coffe and i wont go there again. ever. i hope he didnt spit in my food, you never know..
the thing is, a lot of google reviews are so nice. i get it, one can be stressed from a lot of work, but its not an excuse to scream and not to apologize, which he of course never did

p. s. im not in Berlin anymore and it was the very best decision in my life in general

Germans can't apologize. Even if they are something resembling apologetic, they won't actually apologize. Some old pensioner stepped on my foot the other day quite hard. She just did the whole stupid sounding German "hooooops" sound and said to the person she was with that she stepped on my foot while looking at me. But of course she didn't apologize. Retarded country.

I hate that, they always play '' German culture '' card for everything they do or say which is weird, inappropriate and not acceptable by %90 people in the world.

Also I hate the statements like '' Ohh Germans are actually really nice and friendly but they are cold at the beginning and they need time to open up bla bla bla '' They see themselves superior all the time and as a poor, unlucky foreign person, you need to put afford for them to open up.

This country is massive joke

Exactly its total BS.....I dont buy this narrative anymore either......and to be honest there are so many Berlin fanboys as it seems to be a "trendy place" over the past year......I have no idea why .....as in reality its a shit-hole and really really not nice to be in .....So glad Im back in London.....SW region - bloody nice in comparison and not half the amount of weirdos wondering the streets......its actually very civilised in comparison to Berlin.

I agree. Apparently their being German excuses all of this. In most other countries these things would be frowned upon.

'Ohh Germans are actually really nice and friendly but they are cold at the beginning and they need time to open up bla bla bla'

Yep I got tired of hearing that sh*t too. To hear this from my Indian housemate was especially disappointing as I would have expected him to see through it all. The foreigners who actually like it here are almost as annoying as the locals.

I hate going shopping here. The staff is either rude or indifferent at best, the other customers either walk into you or stare at you (I am blonde and female and European looking). Arabs or Turks let their kids run through the store and yell as loud as they can to call them. Nobody smiles. Not one attractive person in sight that you want to flirt with. Judgmental stares from older women or creepy stares from fat middle aged men with no hair. Ugh.

I left Berlin and back in the UK .....things are brighter now in many many ways....starting to feel like a empathetic, gaining my higher emotional intelligence back and actually feeling joy. I used to think the UK was crap and like many of us we will put the country down from time to time....especially when moving to a new country...saying things like "its better here" but Im thankful for one thing.....living in Berlin and Germany overall has restored my faith for the most part and dare I say it pride in my country. I cannot get over how polite people actually are compared to Berliners and Germans in general.....Im quite happy to be back. Pls note I speak very good German and went beyond the call of duty to fit in.....but there was always something not quite right there.....especially in Berlin but overall the problems existed in most places in Germany. Namely suspicion of foreigners etc - and its dosnt matter even if you are white like I am....I just came across pure ignorance in most not all cases.....but most!!!

You can do whatever You what thoae people and they don't go on the street to protest like french or Spanish or Italian people.

You can find a job elsewhere, I would avoid Czech Republic and Prague as they are turning into overpriced dumps but you can escape if you really want. Whatever you do, do NOT pay a deposit in Germany, that's what will trap you with those soulless, racist, idiotic people and they are stupid too! Germany's best days are long gone. Let me guess. I am single, female, alone on tour and get insulted by any kind of people of every nationality - for no reason. I guess the reason is that I am not 20something . But maybe one doesn't even need a reason.

Especially SBahn and BVG CONTROLLERs are plain rude, no difference between the Ausländers and Germans. They treat you like dirt. But I Guess it's nothing personal.

Anyhow I still haven't figured out how to grow a thick skin and I am ashamed of so many people who act like that.

But I am thankful for those who I can have fun with, make jokes and have a good time. Very rarely people can be sweet, funny and gorgeous.

It is easy to be "anti-social" in Berlin because they don't let you inside their social system when you are alone, eventhough if you are not so much different.

People should build more bridges and smile more.

They shouldn't insult others and just try to keep calm.

They should try not to be so archaic, there will be a chain reaction and others will get crazy too

An authentic Berliner. www.youtube.com/watch Notice how he says "That's my opinion" because of the lack of an agreement of what he truly believes. Later he jokes saying he gonna burn his seasonal ticket. You can him smiling friendly only for a splitsecond. The other doesn't laugh with him. He replies therefore accordingly "That's how simple it is" and then another. You see Berliners originally are very authentic bold people with heart which doesn't contradict anything here.
