Unfortunately I have no possibility to leave for 3 years (it's a long and boring story why). And I don't know how to survive here. If I would describe my life in Berlin, I could use only one word - rejection. Joining meetup groups and writing a message? Ignored. Using dating sites and apps? Ignored or rejected, sometimes even humiliated. Lurking in expats forums, trying to build even a small social circle? Nobody cares. Going to bars / clubs and talking to people? They stare at me like I'm a pile of garbage. And tbh I really feel myself like an useless pile of garbage. The only person I can talk to is myself. I need human connections, but it's easier to fly to the Moon as to set some. If I would believe in mysticism, I would have thought that I have a curse on me. I've visited therapists some times, but all they have done is they given me a receipt for SSRI and said "Ah Entschuldigung, aber alle Plätze für Therapie sind besetzt". Well, what should I expected from German. Berlin it's not hell, it's worse than hell. The frozen trap, where you dwells in self-hatred, feeling of undesirability, feeling that you don't belong and nobody cares about you. Lonely? Depressed? Desperate? Nobody gives a damn. Have not a single idea how to cope with that for 3 freaking years. No idea. I really understand the guy who probably have commited suicide a week ago after he wrote on this site. Too afraid to do it, but I can get his mood. It's like...I don't know.
I tried yoga, meditation, analysis and the only real way to deal with Berlin that worked was TheReleaseEffect which helped me get enough sense to leave Berlin, also a friend who introduced me had similar luck and is now happy in Greece, 3 months later and I'm now happily living in Switzerland. Also, reading Krishnamurti books helped. Berlin is great in very, very small doses, but hard to live there. Good luck to you and everyone else.
I told you to let out your feelings but you ignorant fools did only ignore it! It doesn't replace the lonliness but you feel yourself again. Screw yoga. Just pick up a guitar, learn a few chords and shout to it, but allowingly, then you shud feel relief, just allow it then, cry like a child. You'll see...And yeah I'm a Music therapist also, but obviously have no job here.
Been in Italy for 8 days now and feel 95% back to my old self, getting better every day, already met hospitable, generous and friendly people who I have a good acquaintanceship with and feel they could develop into friendships. What a relief.

Life as a women is filled with stress here. Today I went to the supermarket. Didn’t wear any makeup and even wore my glasses as I couldn’t be bothered to wear contact lenses. In one row there were three old men standing (obviously not German, possibly Turkish). They immediately turned their heads, started grinning at me, staring at me like a peace of meat. And I wasn’t even dressed up, WTF? What is going on in this city.

Living in Berlin or having lived in Berlin makes you special indeed, but in another way.

A year ago I moved to Berlin and because I could not afford to buy a car, so I bought a bike. In Berlin you are literally afraid of life on the road! On my bike I prefer to switch on the light even in the daytime and I wear a reflective vest even when it is sunny. At every crossroads I will stop and I prefer to walk before I risk. I've had my bike in Berlin for 8 accidents, and it wasn't my fault once and every time I had to listen to someone's nasty swearing and insults, even though it wasn't my fault! Today I decided to stop riding my bike because I would like to stay alive! I was very fond of riding a bike at home in southern France. Berlin is very ill with a very hostile city. Even after a year of life in Berlin I know no Germans at all, even though I live in a house where I am the only stranger! The Germans are very hostile, and if you want to make contact with them anywhere, the Germans think you'll want something from them. Berlin is a nasty stinking hole, full of mentally disturbed idiots! Someone should write some article about the fact that Berlin is a long time ago not a wonderful place for young people and artists. Tell your kids not to go to Berlin. There are many beautiful to have in Europe, but Berlin is the last where you want to end up! (French, 28 years old)
Yes hun - you would have been better off in France. French people (indeed all europeans) are much better than Germans with much better manners. Germans are rude, racist , cold and hostile and they have been selling the LIE that Berlin is artist haven for WAY too long... its poop -.... I really wish there were fewer government subsidies for actors and film makers. Then perhaps no one outside of a few angsty adult-baby Germans would know who Til Schweiger, Matthias Schweighöfer and that loser from Fack Ju Göthe are. Their films should all have gone directly into the garbage can.
I hate beeliners on all modes of transportation. Bicyclist are a-holes who attack pedestrians. Car drivers are the more dangerous a-holes.

Do you want to feel truly alone and lost? Go to some of Berlin's clubs! If you are a foreigner, speak another dialect or speak English, the Germans will treat you contemptuously. Enjoy the weekend alone somewhere in a club full of people. The Germans won't have fun with you! This is Berlin!
Left that craphole Germany 2 Months ago - I highly recommend you all to do the same - Europe has alot of other countries where people are normal and not so racist miserable, strenuous and have manners...nevermind that Germans are f - ing idiots. Czech Republic. The people here are MUCH better. I am making it a point to AVOID GERMANY at all costs moving forward... I do not even want to visit it again. Its an absolute idiot with disgusting miserable, inept, racist cunts and really a horrible country.
I just want to share a bit of inspiration. I was buying some things and the woman scanning was quite commanding and controlling, really meh atmosphere, also because everyone gave her credit. She asked for the customer card like it was a police control and people before me acted nonchalant, it felt like they're not honestly behaving about it. So I was thinking how absurd it was to be in such a movie also because I never tend to care about that. It turned out I was actually afraid to act out something rebellious and it strangely gave her power cause I struggled thinking about how to behave and why I even struggle. Then, later I realized there is a good amount of humour in the situation already which resolved everything. I looked at her as somebody working in a supermarket who thinks would be working for the police and it made such a funny picture in relation to the tension, where I probably had to try hard not to laugh and kindly hold back. So yeah that's a bit of light in this dark place, it depends what you see, and often it is already there :)
