The only people that really thrive in Germany are ones who have no ambition, dreams, goals or initiative in life. Fact is that no matter how hard you try here, you'll end up getting a bad paying job where you'll end up financing all the lazy, dumb social scum in this country. It is impossible to get ahead here because there are simply too many idiots here you have to support. If you're a complete idiot then this city is for you. If you have any sense of self-reliance whatsoever you will be forever unhappy here. This society is set up so that you must rely on the government for everything.

I face the same predicament. After 4 years, I decided to leave. Money is tight but I am trying to save enough to leave in 6 months.
Maybe take a longer trip away from berlin and stay with your family for sometime. It might help to take a break from this city and relationship to really think about what you want and need.
