Berlin's government is generally in the hands of the communist (far left) and the center left. This will not change. If you really want to live in far-right land please move to Austria (the hinterlands) or Hungary (the whole country) or Poland (choose any town) or some place like Sachsen. Hmm, that’s a good question. Berlin could be an acceptable place to live if the government knew how to bring proper jobs to the city. And not just for locals but for skilled migrants as well. Because they say they are international and multi-culture but the job market here says otherwise. London, Paris, Amsterdam, New York and Toronto. Found this community by chance, great banter! (besides the alt-right morons here, jsut stfu and get a life). Not sure if it was good to have found this site here though. One one hand it makes me feel better that I'm not the only person who feels like this about this city, I thought something must be wrong with me. On the other hand it's certainly not helpful to improve my situation in this city reading all that stuff here which enhances my hate (and I'm kind of trapped here at the moment because of my job, just moved here recently to start a new job after graduating and I'm too broke to move somewhere else as long as don't find another job in another city). Reading this website is definitely toxic when you're helplessly stuck in this shit-hole. I discovered this webpage about a year and a half ago and have gone through several episodes of compulsively checking it about 100 times per day. Yeah, it's sort of an anti-Berlin. Way too conservative, expensive, and boring. Some people prefer that though. Think Hamburg is a decent in between point, not as rough around the edges as Berlin nor as conservative as Munich. Leipzig is Berlin minus the expats, tourists, and hype but also less going on and not a great job market, especially if you can't speak German fluently. That said, it seems to have more momentum behind it and it may turn out to be a pretty decent place to live.
