Do any of you know of that new gym, FitX? I signed up for a membership a year ago. From the moment I did it I regretted immediately. Place full of grease heads taking selfies in the weight room. Nobody working out just looking around at everybody else. Staff never at the front when you need them. Place full of fake people with no personality. Why are these German men/women in the gym anyway? They don’t talk to each other anyway just look with that stupid Expression on their face. Anyway, I canceled my membership and bought a home machine to erase some of this depression fat. What has everyone else experienced been going to the gym here in this broken up city?
I tried out Holmes Place for a couple of months. It was ok, but pretty expensive. What made me quit, though, was that I kept walking in on guys in the shower messing around. It seems to be a big problem at German gyms. Really disgusting and disrespectful. I hate this country.
Agree, I have tunnel vision when I go to the gym. Only time when i’m Extremely anti-social. Not trying to talk and make new friends. Get in, do my poop and freaking leave. Saunas and public co-ed nudity gained popularity in Germany after the second world war when there was a shortage of viable mates and women had to compete by any means necessary. How it has endured until today is beyond me, but it probably has something to do with the terrible parenting habits of most Germans with children. Permissive and avoidant. I'm not sure I've ever seen another country full of parents so unwilling to take any interest in their children's lives like the Germans. And allowing their kids to sleep around from 12 or 13 is pretty common here. No one is ever taught any shred of self-respect, dignity, modesty or morals. Is it the scummy left's fault? Who can say for sure (yes, it's the scummy left's fault).

The body odor smell here is bad in enclosed spaces, especially in summer. And if there's no BO smell, then gag on the cheap floral deodorant that the women here love to drown themselves in. The aerosol spray that costs 50 cents at bargain stores. Effective deodorant costs like 2 EUR, but these people have to scrimp because the jobs here pay so poorly and they're 45 year olds still living in WGs and riding a freaking bike to work. And the streets - when you realize that all those puddles you see in every corner in this city is actually urine - well, it's no longer surprising. Can't even have a meal in front of a restaurant in this city in the 4 weeks a year it is warm enough without suffocating from that disgusting smell of urine. And, of course, it is all because of the cheapskate nature of every person here. Businesses too cheap to spend an extra 5 EUR per month to let people use their bathrooms. People too cheap to spend 50 cents to pee and wash their hands.
BTW, once I had a German partner, who was washing her hands after using the bathroom while her mother was visiting our apartment and her mom said "Wow, washing your hands after peeing? Are you a boy now?" Perfectly sums up this disgusting country full of disgusting people.

I found the people in Cologne to be nicer but can't deal with the very visible alcoholism on the street. Walking down the street as a woman you are met with sleazy smiles from old alcoholics. In the beginning you pity them but after a while it goes on your nerves.
And Germany is a RICH country. Why are people here so... careless with themselves? In terms of manners, hair, clothes, hygiene? It's not like it's a poor country where people can't afford running water. A haircut isn't that expensive either. If you need clothes, go to Primark. It's not that great but the clothes there look better than what 99% of all people in Berlin are wearing.
It's terrible here. Riding an elevator with "professionals" at work is torture. They show up to work in the morning smelling of body odor and alcohol. I have never experienced this in any other first-world country. Why do so many Germans refuse to bathe?

I have met tons of people earning around 22-28k eur/year, which seems ridiculously low to me.
