Where to live Berlin or Barcelona?
Really bad time to consider Barcelona with the separatist chaos. Not a clear winner in Europe right now or really anywhere. Part of the problem not only with current world issues but also the Internet is we all know the good and bad of every city and country too well, when before it was mostly just the good. Maybe Lisbon or another cheap and stable coastal city if I ever got a remote job and was able to pull that off. The salaries there are pretty low though and their job market is still weak.
The funny thing is how appreciated Berliners are amongst Germans from elsewhere in Germany for their rude and snobby manners: not at all! Please, at least check out Frankfurt for comparison.
As much as I hate german libshits, why in the earth would someone starts a relationship with a german, let alone marrying? All those miserable people who cry on a collapsed date with german bums, they get what they deserve! What can be so charming with a german cheap-ass vagina to share things in common? Are you that illiterate and naive to believe their self-imposed posing bullshit?
Be warned, when you marry a German you marry into their perverted culture. You doom yourself to never being good enough for the in-laws. You probably have to spend a good ten or more years here. You will suffer extreme self-doubt and daily blows to your confidence, and you will never fit in.
So consider well, is it worth it? It was for me because I was lucky and found the needle in the utterly putrid haystack which is Germany. Suffering comes with the territory - I´m with the perfect husband for 20 years and counting. Thank god we left that hellhole.

Startups and tech companies suck. Most just work in them because they pay a decent salary compared to other options, it's not like any other sector is really booming. But yeah, you give up your life when joining one (more of an issue in the US than Berlin). No matter what you really think of the product, you have to throw that out and pretend like it's the best thing to ever happen to the world and it will be the next Google or get bought out by them. Almost every product that's beyond a few years old is barely functional, often on a now outdated stack, and being taped up by an entirely different team that built it who's heart isn't in it and are only motivated by the possibility of moving to a better company. Everything is aimed at 20 to early 30 year old yuppies, hipsters (though the truly cool ones are artists and don't work full-time), and nerds, the lingo, the parties, who is hired, etc.

How Germany economically takes advantage of pretty much all of it's partners and allies, plus talks sh-t about them behind their back. How Germany constantly talks sh-t about the USA but refuses to pay the minimum agreed contribution for NATO, even while they economically rape other EU countries, exploit the Euro, exploit trade, etc. How Germany sh-ts on the southern European countries, helping to economically & socially cripple an entire generation of young people in the Mediterranean. How Trump is STOOPID and Hitler (don't like him but Germany should focus on demonizing their own leaders), how the UK is backwards and STOOPID and racist for leaving the EU, even though Germany/Merkel had a huge role in them leaving, but almost no German will admit to that, they’d rather believe Anglo people are just STOOPID and racist, because Germans are oh so smart, enlightened, they know better than everyone. I think it takes so much effort to find a group of friends that you can rely on in this city. It doesn't come naturally for sure and it's actually frustrating because you start to think that something is wrong with you and then there are big chances that everythings start spiraling down.
It's a big/international city issue not unique to Berlin. Too many come and go and hard for anyone to stand out as someone that people want to befriend (unless you stand out by being well known for something or are exceptionally attractive). Locals made their true friends growing up and have no room for more. It may be harder in smaller cities at first since you'll be an outsider but once you do break through, they're likely going to be real friends.

If you want to live in Berlin or Germany in general, you have to be okay with non-stop extreme propaganda.
