What do you think about "learn German" circle jerk Germans do on internet?

I came here as master student, studied in English, graduated, managed to find English speaking job in IT I have been working for 5 years. I am planning to leave Germany next year. I got okayish German skills but I never understand "learn German" circle jerk on the internet. It is completely possible to live here without knowing German.

It's their egos speaking. They either failed to learn English and now they try to compensate for that. Or they know foreign languages but feel superior by making a foreigner speak German because it's "theirs."

At the beginning I did courses, went on meetups, used apps etc. super keen to learn it, although in my job there’s no need to speak it, there were still a few Germans complaining and acting nazi about it.
With time I got a bit irritated by it, especially when it was used as an excuse to invalidate my opinions and I cut off from any career progress because my language was not good enough. Funny, I really don’t need German in my job, and even if I would, I would still speak English 90% as everyone is from everywhere in my field.
Now my German is a decent conversational level, but I don’t speak it with anyone except I really have to. Most of the times I used it to talk back to some misbehaved ogre and so.
I don’t want to speak their language with them. It’s even more annoying when you see them proudly correcting your accent, grammar and sparkle with joy to feel superior.

im isolated here in the land of Brandenburg and thinking about going back to my home country. those motherf*ckers are too low level for me. the only thing which is ok is my salary and the thing that even if i loose my job i have the state support which is not so existing in my home country. im searching for other place to work, tomorrow is another job interview, so im kinda stuck.

Good luck! Holiday season is a good time to search for a job as lots think “I’ll do it next year, after Christmas” so it’s less competitive and spans better chances.

Do you guys feel like Germans are a bunch of hypocrites?
For example why do they constantly recruit foreigners to their "startup" or "cultural" hub only to diss them, is it because they need to use the hard work of foreigners to get tax for the unemployed germans and the kindergeld?
ps berlin is a prime example of why socialism doesnt work.

what I mean is the level of xenophobia doesn't match up with the rampant recruitment they do. They even lure people and "forget" to tell them about the massive tax deductions in their pay before they arrive. Scammers.

True, but when you relocate someone for a contract, it’s only common sense to disclose the salary both gross and net value, and not to let them hit the brick wall after they changed their whole life and moved… Everyone does their own research, sure, but some punctual things should be transparent.

You learn their language, you read their newspapers and books, and when you want to talk to them, the Germans refuse to talk to you because you don't have the right dialect. I graduated from the Faculty of Education and I know that for an adult it is almost impossible to change dialect. I've stopped talking to these ignorant people and pretend I don't understand at all. It's horrible to listen to those morons then talk bad about you because they believe you don't know German. So this is their worldliness and open-mindedness? I've never seen anything like it in England, Ireland, Australia or Prague! I'm so disgusted. Luckily I'm going to Spain in March and I can't wait. Seville will be great.

Ironically enough, Germans do tend to have a thick accent when speaking foreign languages (if they ever get to do this).

As you noted, the tactless tendency to look down on someone because of speaking the local language with any sort of foreign accent is something you fail to see in other countries.

My experience in Berlin was shocking, and in 5 years this place will be a full on third world country… It’s regressing day by day. It’s already worst and less progressive overall than the poor parts of Europe in the 90s…

Stone the gays, gas the Jews… I repet, don’t question. Do as your “prophet” says, he knows best, morals and all… Follow blindly and you’ll have a good life.
Germany as a future islamic state is just a return to their recent ancestors. Good luck with that.

They never actually read Kapital, it's just a prop to signal commitment. Mao hasn't been read since '68, and even then only sparingly. They read and regurgitate tertiary sources - which is pretty much the trend everywhere, but German academia is especially awful.

You get a job…
Not working - even in s*ith*Le Berlin - is a choice. There are so many things one can easily do (even „simple“ deliveries). We all go through struggles and no money phases in life, but it’s all about what we make most out of it… Without finding loopholes to avoid responsibility and clinging on X or Y to get away easily.
If you have a purpose, maintain a livelihood, the expiring visa should not be a concern… when you contribute even a bit somehow to something, you‘ll not be kicked out.. But if you don‘t know how to survive after, why do you even want the visa anyway?
I am not saying this in a bad spirit. I am grateful for what I had, and if I wouldn’t, I would try to make some ends meet, even if that means doing poop jobs for a while… It’s actually grounding and builds a good character towards being grateful in the end. You learn to appreciate, be understanding of others and less judgmental… If I‘d constantly fail to be on my two feet, I‘d leave and take a leap of faith somewhere else, maybe start fresh at home and accept defeat…
Why stay here, be poor and miserable?

I am not sure I understand this:
When you say nobody has money, do you refer to yourself? Or you hope someone with money with take you in to pay for your new life or something like that?
If the first, then as said above, get a job. That’s how we all do it. LOL
If the later… no comment.
