I was born and raised in a non EU country (not US / Canada / Australia either) and I came here to study my masters. (I have studied in English) I graduated eventually but the education I received was far better in my home country. The master course I studided in Germany felt like English class mostly with writing papers and 15 mins presentations.
Does any of you have the same experience?
Finally going to leave this city. Was born and raised here. Will move to Italy (my home country). It took me about 29 years to understand how much I hate this city and how much it changed myself (in a negative way). I feel like I never lived the life I really wanted to live. Could never build "sane" relationships. Always absorbed negative energy. It's never too late to leave this place.

Thoughts about new government?
It won't necessarily suck more but it certainly won't be any better. The SPD and the CDU have become indistinguishable in recent years, the Greens claim to be progressive but scratch the surface and you'll find quite an outdated stale conservatism and the FDP may be classic economic liberals on paper but they are still German and will be happy to let the big state strangle them. In short: it will be more of the same but with some policies like drug legalisation and easier immigration policies to try and keep the voters who believed them to actually be progressive happy.
Is it just me or are German women not good at keeping themselves.. fresh? The last few women I have been with all had poor mouth and/or female genitalia hygiene
At what point in Berlin do people go downhill to never return? I noticed I went downhill after 9 months, some it takes a few years. But I left. How can you help your friends realize not to be apathetic, that there is a way out ?

What do you think about "learn German" circle jerk Germans do on internet?
I came here as master student, studied in English, graduated, managed to find English speaking job in IT I have been working for 5 years. I am planning to leave Germany next year. I got okayish German skills but I never understand "learn German" circle jerk on the internet. It is completely possible to live here without knowing German.
At the beginning I did courses, went on meetups, used apps etc. super keen to learn it, although in my job there’s no need to speak it, there were still a few Germans complaining and acting nazi about it.
With time I got a bit irritated by it, especially when it was used as an excuse to invalidate my opinions and I cut off from any career progress because my language was not good enough. Funny, I really don’t need German in my job, and even if I would, I would still speak English 90% as everyone is from everywhere in my field.
Now my German is a decent conversational level, but I don’t speak it with anyone except I really have to. Most of the times I used it to talk back to some misbehaved ogre and so.
I don’t want to speak their language with them. It’s even more annoying when you see them proudly correcting your accent, grammar and sparkle with joy to feel superior.
Miserable, boring, jealous, selfish, inconsiderate, xenophobic, lazy, overcomplaining, boring, boring, BORING people. Depressed and drugged. Twisted. Perverts. Shallow. Inefficient. Two faced.
i work in a completely german office only with the germans.
all are in my age and the only humour they have is just making jokes and bulling/ mobbing each other. no hobbies, only money money money.. a lot of childhood trauma and so on.
im isolated here in the land of Brandenburg and thinking about going back to my home country. those motherf*ckers are too low level for me. the only thing which is ok is my salary and the thing that even if i loose my job i have the state support which is not so existing in my home country. im searching for other place to work, tomorrow is another job interview, so im kinda stuck.

True, but when you relocate someone for a contract, it’s only common sense to disclose the salary both gross and net value, and not to let them hit the brick wall after they changed their whole life and moved… Everyone does their own research, sure, but some punctual things should be transparent.

You learn their language, you read their newspapers and books, and when you want to talk to them, the Germans refuse to talk to you because you don't have the right dialect. I graduated from the Faculty of Education and I know that for an adult it is almost impossible to change dialect. I've stopped talking to these ignorant people and pretend I don't understand at all. It's horrible to listen to those morons then talk bad about you because they believe you don't know German. So this is their worldliness and open-mindedness? I've never seen anything like it in England, Ireland, Australia or Prague! I'm so disgusted. Luckily I'm going to Spain in March and I can't wait. Seville will be great.
Ironically enough, Germans do tend to have a thick accent when speaking foreign languages (if they ever get to do this).
As you noted, the tactless tendency to look down on someone because of speaking the local language with any sort of foreign accent is something you fail to see in other countries.

My experience in Berlin was shocking, and in 5 years this place will be a full on third world country… It’s regressing day by day. It’s already worst and less progressive overall than the poor parts of Europe in the 90s…
