Every day, I am harassed. Touched, groped, shouted at and aggressively stared at/watched. Yes, I am female, yes I am white. So what? I am a decent, peace loving human being. All I want is respect in all of its forms, not just in terms of being harassed. When I have tried to explain this to the Leftists in the workplace, I am victim blamed for looking too "bourgeois". "Fascism" isn't left and it isn't breaking store windows and rioting with police. The right constantly tries to redefine terms so their idiot base remains ignorant as hell and impossible to communicate with. There is a small group that aligns "left" but have a very different idea of what is okay and works during protests. They tend to be younger guys and crusties (though not all). Their actions also attract various people who just want to be part of the action and may not really align left at all. The vast majority of protesters are not involved in these incidents but the media focuses on them and loops them, particularly right media, giving the impression every protester is involved and that they are happening non-stop all day.

Berlin was better in the GDR-times. Now it's a hipster paradise. Almost everybody have tattoos and are info art and bullshit. All the Muslims also make Berlin a very unpleasant and unsafe place. Don't get me wrong...I have lived and hated Berlin and would not move back because it's not "cheap" anymore, it's actually pretty expensive BUT having just spent time (unfortunately) in Bulgaria and being in Berlin for 1 day I can say it's the 2nd worst city I have ever been to. Sofia in Bulgaria is the worst !! But Berlin is the western version: nothing works , it's filthy and not as cheap as it pretends, however if you are stuck in Berlin and want to feel better, go visit Bulgaria and come back to Berlin, it will be a temporary high, because Berlin also has ALOT of problems but it's only second worst compared to that hellhole Bulgaria
You've said this before, but in my experience, Bulgarians I've met outside of Bulgaria, are some of the nicest people I've ever met, in fact they inspired me to want to go there, which I will do soon, because your criticisms are making w=me want to see this strange anomaly for myself.
I hate Berlin for a number of reasons, but the main reasons are these:

Does anyone here know of any person who flourished in Berlin? Like they were happy, had a good job and/or found a good relationship etc? I feel like everyone in Berlin is just coasting and going deeper into a downward spiral. Does anyone find true happiness in Berlin ever or does it just make everyone miserable and the worst version of themselves they can be?

I have known a lot of foreigners in Germany from different backgrounds. The students are passing through, but many of the ones from East Europe I knew decided to stay. They're all working more-or-less insignificant jobs, like most jobs in Berlin, that nonetheless pay better than they would in Poland, Romania, Hungary and Ukraine. I can kind of understand these people because those places are economic nightmares.
But I have also met a lot of older people who had at some point earlier in their lives had semi-successful careers. I once interviewed a 40+ former radio host from Chicago for a customer service job at a Berlin "start-up". It was depressing for me, a 22 year old at the time. Later I met people who came here from Silicon Valley to work at information engineers at "start-ups" only to grow frustrated at either quit emotionally after a year or two or, the stronger ones, head back home after a few months.
I have only really met one person here who really seemed to love the city. He has a kind of naivety in him that reminds me of children under 10. I've gone out with him a few times and have witnessed random people in the city treating him very badly, I'm guessing because of his strong accent and positive aura. But he still acts like Berlin is the greatest city ever and to say otherwise would be sacrilege. Despite having a good degree from a decent school in America, he has remained stuck in receptionist jobs the entire time I've known him.
I'm from Romania, I had a relative ok paid job (for Berlin) in a design studio but I really didn't see any progress for myself year after year (socially as well). Then my doctor suggested after I asked him for antidepressants, that it's time for me to leave the city asap, and that I wasn't the only one in this situation.

I have been told Leipzig is a great place. This is from a friend who lived there for two years, moved to Berlin to work with us. After two months, she is struggling, but she knows where I live and at least we have each other for support.
Work like a robot - no fun aloud, no creativity, afterwards enjoy the so called brainless" feierabend", the time of the day dedicated to some feel good moments drowned in beer.
I moved away about a year ago. In that year I think 1 person has been rude to me - in Berlin it felt like almost everday. Even physical aggression. A mad person on the street grabbed me in a neck-lock. A guy pushed me with my bike onto a table in Simon-Dach-Strasse on a v busy night. A woman screamed at me in Neukölln because I did not give her money and started talking crazy shit. Another fat lout drinking beer shouted at me from a Späti for no good reason.
I had a crazy guy violently shout at me tonight as I alighted from a tram. I just nonchalantly strolled past him as if he didn't exist. He soon stopped screaming. He was just trying to provoke a response. If you treat them like they don't exist, it confuses their alcohol-addled "brains", and makes them question their own existence, that's enough to slow anyone down.
Having left 1 year ago I returned for a visit of 9 days and actually had a great time. However, today I had to call the Finanzamt and the humourlessness and unremitting unfriendliness of people at the tax office served as a reminder of the negative things about Berlin.
that happened to me on occasion too... I would be slogging through my week or month or year with hate and rudeness on all sides and then one day a lady at a ticket counter or a bus driver would smile, maybe joke with me and maybe even ask how I was and I would be like... hmmm, maybe there is a ray of sunshine here, maybe I am not the crazy one... it would lift my spirits and make me reassess my views of Berlin but inevitably the sun would fade and the depression return... it is a tease, a sad joke perpetrated by the locals I think... they must get cards like jury duty summons... something along the lines of.. "it is your civic duty to be nice and even friendly to a foreigner this week in order to keep them here spending their money and let them think that we want them here."
